Good to see Ja'Lynn Polk and Jerrin Thompson play Monday night. Polk got the better end of the game and success. Although ESPN made note of Polk playing at Lufkin, they never made the connection that both Thompson and Polk both played at Lufkin at the same time.

Thought the ESPN crew did a less than credible job in that area.

Just thought again how these kids come through Lufkin, they have no State contending experiences, then they excel so well at the college level. Better coaching that knows how to develope and excel their full talent.

Polk is really leaving his mark with Washigton.

Enjoyed watching them square off. It was funny to hear them mention Lufkin as being a great football program. They did mention Dez and Jorvorskie Lane, and I think one other former player. I think Polk has done enough to get a look in the NFL. I hope Jerrin gets an opportunity too.

Going to wait until after the National Championship game to change the topic over to 2024.  Want to see if we can close out the college football year with a former Lufkin Panther winning a National Championship.  Best of luck to Ja'Lynn, hope he and his teammates have a great game.

When we get past next Monday, we will set up the 2024 Panther Football topic.  In February we will know the new district alignment, or possibly the same district with two or three new schools added.

Going to need to ask you for your tolerance moving forward, because for the first time since I've been either operating or moderating this site, my enthusiasm for covering Panther football is kind of on the low side.

There are other informational placrs out there now too to get Panther information like https://www.lufkingametime.com/  They do their work FOR Lufkin ISD under contract, while We/I still do this all on a voluntary basis, and have done so for all the 22 years I've been a part of Lufkin Panther Sports.  Maybe this LPS site is still one of the only places you can freely speak about Lufkin sports. I don't know, and there are many times lately I've wondered if the time has come to pass the baton. A couple folks have mentioned that very thing.

Lee Miller, msgpr.com/ and AmerigyEnergy.com/ and https://mcfsolar.com/ , totally sponsor and fund the operation of this site, also the  https://www.facebook.com/lufkinpanthersports  and https://twitter.com/lufkin_sports?lang=en.  It would be nice to have some help, either a knowledgeable extra input person or even some financial incentive to continue.  Just living on the enthusiasm and energy of Lufkin Panther football to drive the site dynamics for free has dried up big time since 2017.  Today, things just look like a dust bowl of fallen trophies from the past, a football program depleted of most signs of success. Their successful past is so long ago now, it's getting harder to remember those times. We now have a whole generation of people, young folks and high school students that don't know the first thing about how great and dominate the Lufkin Panther football program use to be. It sicken me to think of how far things have slid into the mire of 6th place finishes three years in a row.

Of course, I'm not going to be here forever either, not a young guy anymore, had cancer treatment in 2022, things just are not quite the same any longer. Life just looks different from where I stand today.  Physically I'm feeling great, very active. even still play some basketball.

LP Sports was once voted long ago as one of the best HS Sports websites in the Nation, featured in the October 2nd, 2006 edition of Sports Illustrated, Page # 66.  That was a long time ago. My son and I spoke with the SI guy personally. Son is home now for about 5 months, before he returns to Lviv, Ukraine, were he has worked and lived about 5 years as a Creative Director/ AI Design for https://cieden.com/. Sure wish he could find work closer to home. He is now 40, we were speaking the other day about the site and everything, all the years past. How he started the it all on a lark in 2002, after he had graduated in 2001.

"Well, AGE and TIME have a way of flattening a Man".  We'll see how things go.  I hear folks talk all the time about their 5 year and 10 year plans, mine are one year plans now. LOL Don't laugh, It' eventually happens to everyone.

Just read where Jerrin  Thompson entered the transfer portal , any thoughts on where he's going ?

Surprised by this, yet he has had to share his time this year and that's not what may want. Great talent is always coming in to a program.

On another note, the NCAA need to get a handle on the transfer portal and NIL situation.  It may be too late now, they are now caught in the trap they made by their greed. it will ruin college football, if it's not too late already. NFL the same thing, by partnering with all of these gambling outlet sponsors. Too much money corrupts.

We have already seen guys like Ewers and Blue at Texas, there are others too, sit out their senior season in HS because of NIL. The whole game of football as we have know it has been changed forever.  It will now always be the schools with the most money and NIL sponsor money who win.  The smaller schools will have no chance to compete at all.

I totally agreed this transfer portal and NIL have started to ruin college football. I think should only allowed to transfer one time, but greed has taken over

Kedren has been in the game a few plays, hasn't had many opportunities and not much success when he did handle the ball. Hope he has some success before game ends.

Game is really one sided with the West dominating the game.

One thing is for sure these kids are good, well coached and developed at the HS level.

Polk had a decent game. The Washington OL was overwhelmed all game long by the Michigan front 7.  Great year by the Huskies. Texas needs a proven WR right now. Just a thought.
