@PurpleNation I apologize man. The longer these playoffs have gone on and seeing what our district is doing and what Lufkin was able to do against these teams (except Longview) it really is a testament to the talent level we had and the talent level of this district. I know our coaching flaws hurt us, but when you say not being in this district will help us next season I’m backing that claim 100%.
They're going to be very good next season. The offense may have its moments they look lost but overall to have a QB that can make off script plays will be beneficial. If Lufkin would had beaten Lancaster then they probably get to the 3rd Rd. Not sure they could have beaten Longview without Tatum but it would of been a much better game

They have nothing posted on their site right now. Looked everywhere.
Huh. I saw where Matt Stepp tweeted about having them and thanking Padilla for helping out. Guess they're saving it to release them.

Yes, I believe JAM Digital is broadcasting the Lufkin games.
I can't find a stream if they're doing one

Lufkin comes back from 15 points down in the 3rd quarter to defeat Prosper Walnut Grove 64-48. Lufkin wins 7th place out of 32 - 5A/6A teams. The Pack finished 4-1 in the tournament. They return home Monday to host the Lufkin Hoopfest. They play 6A Duncanville on Monday evening.
Do you know if Lufkin will broadcast the Duncanville game? Also that team from Arizona has the highest rated kid in the tournament. A composite 5 star. Lufkin will have their hands full tomorrow.

I believe with LV it's next man up. Tatum went out but they kept humming along. i know Aledo is good but LV might be a hard team to beat
If anybody can do it. It would be them. Just sucks to see that happen to the kid.

He out man
Yeah that's a 4-6 month recovery depending on the severity. My kid broke his wrist in 8th grade trying to brace a fall playing QB. That's a nasty injury. He may not be able to go through spring football at OU.

Well he wasn't in a sling after the game cause he was at the hospital the entire second half lol.
I'll take anything that'll keep him in a cast and able to play however.
Those Reedy boys were going out of their way to try and take him out of the game, but of course it's the one that is as innocent as can be that would hurt him.
We'll see what happens next week with him though.
I don't think you can ask him to play with a broken wrist.

Either that Frisco district isn't quite as strong as they were 3 or 4 years ago or 7-5A DI was exceptionally strong this season. May turn out to be the strongest district in all of 5A football.
I think our district is just that good. Lonestar, Reedy and Wakeland are solid teams.

I watched the game. Tatum hurt his shoulder or something on a run, he just ran off the field before half. Trainers were looking at him, couldn't tell. Just know he didn't play the 2nd half. However, Longview has two capable back ups that work well in their system. The Lobos didn't miss a beat when Tatum went out.
Not against Reedy but with Lancaster and possibly Forney looming again they might. Any chance of them beating Aledo may have just went out the window if Tatum can't go. I hope it's just preliminary why they held him out.

I think Lufkin is hosting a playoff game next week. Can't remember the teams.

I was told that Tatum got hurt tonight and was in a Sling after the game
Some Longview fans on smokey were saying he has an upper body injury. Tough way to go out your SR season.

Teams get better as the years progresses, Lufkin does not get better.
I think if we're in Consolidated district we're still playing.

All 7-5A DI teams won tonight .
Longview over Reedy 52-14
Lancaster over Wakeland 35-13
Forney over Lone Star 26-24
So, we have Longview and Lancaster next week, Forney will play the winner of Barbers Hill or Richland. All tied up 41-41 this one is going into overtime.
Consolidated held on knocked off #3 Fulsear 31-19
Huntsville also won big over Austin LBJ

I think that has been the most competitive district Lufkin has been in since 97 from top to bottom. When you had John Tyler, Longview, Lufkin and Marshall all ranked in the Top 10. Tyler Lee was also good that year.
-
Halftime scores
#2 Longview 31
Frisco Reedy 7
#8 Forney 12
#6 Frisco Lonestar 7
Lancaster 14
Frisco Wakeland 7
Consolidated 24
#3 Fulsear 7
That consolidated win is looking better by the week lol. In all seriousness I think Lufkin was probably better then we gave them credit for this year. This is an unreal district that's deep.

We have already talked a few times about Ralph Thomas as a possible coaching option for the future of Lufkin football. That's been covered. I also think Jamarkus McFarland would be a strong candidate too, mainly because of his experience playing in college, and coaching in college at SFA and TCU. He certainly would bring a much different perspective to Lufkin.
I know there are other great coaching possibilities available for hire out there, who are not associated with Lufkin, just think to have a successful former Panther like McFarland, who has proved himself as a 4 year letterman at Oklahoma and successful Defensive coach with SFA and TCU would resonate with the kids here.
As would Rafael Thomas, playing at Southern Arkansas, then getting his coaching experience through Lufkin, (Mathis @ Marshal, and now Houston Yates as AD/HC.
Not sure what McFarland is paid at TCU, that may play into things. Both men have families, and maybe coming back to Lufkin, that has to be considered.
Anyway, just thinking this morning of opportunities that could be someday, I'm looking for a change from the past to the future. These last 5 years have finally taken the wind our of my sail about what is going on here with our football program.
Ralph played baseball at Oklahoma St for a little bit. I don't think Ralph went to Southern Arkansas unless he did that after Oklahoma St? Which I guess is possible.
Ok I did confirm he played at Southern Arkansas after Oklahoma St. I never knew that.

At least the Board chooses the Superintendent. I guess when and who is hired will also take plenty of advice from the Board. Kurt Stephen is interim now, would not surprise me that he would be chosen. Another in house hire. I don't have a preference either way, except if it does end up that way, nothing else changes either.
I think Kurt Stephen would be a good one. He was a counselor when I was in school. Really good guy. I definitely wouldn't mind him.

I believe they have hired a company to find the new superintendent. They will make the recommendation to the school board and that person will be hired if a satisfactory deal can be worked out.
So the school board hires someone to do their job?

Too many other options up North to pair Tyler, N. Mesquite, W. Mesquite and McKinney North into other districts closer Metro than including Lufkin. The option for us to mix into a district South is better, not optimal but more feasible. With our geographical location nothing is optimal any longer. Only if we were 5A DII would that work for a really good East Texas district. Of course we know that is not going to ever happen now.
Playing Houston ISD schools does us no good at all. Just don't see that, then again I really can't see anything right now.
Lufkin, Humble Kingwood Park, New Caney Porter, A&M Consolidated, College Station, Houston Spring Woods and North Brook HS might be a good start, would need to find maybe one more school. ???
I've been plugging into my GPS and all the HISD schools are faster to get to at about 2 hrs for each one. New Caney Porter is the only one that's closer. Can they form a Central Texas district without College Station and Consolidated? I think they can but I'm only seeing a fraction of the picture. It's funny that I can get to Houston Milby faster then I can get to College Station. I'm not sure the UIL will have much of a choice to send us south but where? Humble ISD hasn't turned in numbers yet. So I'm not sure where Kingwood Park will go. I would not be surprised one bit if they send us to HISD with New Caney Porter if they have the openings but then you have Galveston Ball and Friends Wood. So what do you do with them. They could easily fit with HISD. The pre split has caused nothing but problems.

My son sent me this earlier this morning that is circulating in their group chat. Pretty sure this is the Padilla projection. I like it. Lufkin should be a problem for all these guys next season.
