The last senior class had 3/5 starters on the offensive line, 600 yard receiver, 2 starters in the rb group (One being Kedren Young ) and a experienced qb this is not even mentioning the 2 top 5 seniors in tackles on the defensive end. I think saying they didn’t offer much is underrating the last class. I do think the team should win games but the last 2 teams also should’ve won more games
Compared to what they will be bringing back next year. Outside Kedren and Menefee I don't know where we're not getting better maybe outside the 1 offensive line spot.

I've been looking at some old cases on schools appealing to move districts for football and most of the time it's denied but they will let them move for all other sports. Maybe not as confident as I once was. I can see the UIL saying it's only a few games and it's a non school night even though the sub varsity kids will suffer. Maybe the social media uproar will force their hand.

It would better suit yall for travel purposes to be in 10-5A D1, but personally I have no issue with LP being in our district.
I can't believe they wanted yall in a district with Burleson Centennial, that's beyond crazy.
Is it 11-5A that fits us best? Anything but Dallas and I'll be happy. As cool as it would be to play Highland Park I would like to be able to travel to the games in person for my son SR season. Just no way I'm making a drive to Joshua or Cleburne on a Friday night.

Any word on the appeal to the UIL?
I think the meeting is the 20th and decision on the 21st

Still no speculation on our Wk 3 game?

I truly believe every word you speak. Said this last year, if the coaching staff put those kids in the right positions and used them correctly, then we are good to go. My apologies, I suffer from huge trust issues with the offensive staff. Hope they can overcome this to be successful.
I'm hanging my hat on the defense. I think they will be one of the better units in 5A. The offense has potential. They will hit their fair share of big plays and I'm sure at times struggle to find a rhythm. We will find out real quick just how much more improved they're out the gate against Longview. Highschool football is usually dictated by returning starters,SRs and star players. If Lufkin can't put together a good season it will be highly disappointing. I just look at the roster and they have no business not being competitive against anyone on the schedule. I think we all know the possibilities if we go Region 3. College Station is probably the best team in that Region now with Smithson Valley back in Region 4. Same kids we beat as freshman missing 5 starters due to injury. Not saying it's going to be a cake walk because Port Arthur and Barbers Hill have good programs but it's definitely more manageable with what seems to me at least the best team we've had on paper since 2017 easily.

Bingo!
I agree about the talent on defense. But I feel like we are a year behind. I think last year or the one before, should've been the breakthrough year for a few playoff wins. That experience from the extra games help carry over to the next year. You rarely see program go from a 3 year playoff drought to a run the first year back. Those things usually have a progression to them. Teams chip away at it, until they finally break through. I don't see Lufkin catching fire all of the sudden with the same staff and philosophies. The wild cards are Johnson at Qb and the O-line. Johnson could be special if he everything lines up for him this year.
2 years ago that SR class just wasn't very good and last year outside of Kedren that SR class didn't offer much. This 25 class is by far the best we've had in a while. They already have 4 kids with D1 offers and another 2-3 that will likely get some D1 offers not including any kids from the 26 class. They will have somewhere between 16-17 starters coming back with a bunch of SRs. Also Lufkin was in a brutal district. I don't think they were nearly as bad as the record indicated last year. Pushed Forney and Lancaster to the wire and they both went 4 and 5 rounds deep. I get the hesitation but I expect them to kick the door wide open this season no matter what district they put us in. Region 3 would be more advantageous but they will be able to compete with anyone in Region 2. This was always the year for me. The concern is the offensive line. I'm not worried about Johnson. He is going to make some plays with his feet that we haven't seen in a very long time. They're putting in work every weekend outside of school. As freshman they dominated like no other freshmen team in recent memory. I fully expect we will see that translate in the fall.

I do hope you are right. Just can’t drink the koolaid.
I typically wouldn't buy in but I know what they have. To many returning starters and SRs. I'm not here to say they're about to go on a 10 year run of dominance but they should definitely pretty dang good next season. That I know.

I forgot Davis moved over to LSU.
Yeah big loss for Texas. His bus rant changed the trajectory of the Texas program. We did hire a good replacement but Bo will be missed.

You gotta remember these are probably the same people that put us in this district with Ft Worth teams. Craziness. Driving through the dfw on a Thursday and Friday night from east Texas…..especially when people are getting off work too. They must hate us lol
Just believe 007 lol

Well, your in a 22 year drought, and I'm trusting almost no one these days. I'm not going in expecting anything next year, there's nothing been done the last three years to prove anything different will happen. It's been all smoke and no fire.
I'd be shocked if they don't have a really good season. This is the group of kids that we coached in little league. They've done nothing but win at every level. They have a togetherness about them that is special. Kind of reminds me of my SR season. Most importantly they're putting in the work.

Hey does LP have a DT getting recruited by my Razorbacks??
Get in line behind Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and LSU. Texas was leading but with Bo Davis now in Baton Rouge and LSU being his dream school. I think he ends up in the bayou.

Lufkin is going to be 9-5A when it's all said and done. Bank on it.

Kingwood Park must practice flopping in practice, they flop like a fish if you breath on them.
The PG for Kingwood Park #0 is a Lufkin kid. He didn't move until he got to HS. He's played little league and AAU with all the Lufkin players. He would of been a nice addition had he stayed.

Gary Ivins doesn't think Lufkin wins an appeal. I don't think Quick would appealed this until the Administration got involved and asked him to do so. In his first interview, he made no mention of appeal and said they would just get on the bus and go play. Then things changed overnight.
I don't see how we lose an appeal. I remember when they tried to put DeSoto and Rockwall in our district for football only but they appealed and we had to do the round robin format for 2 years. These things get granted when you have a strong case. I get the West Texas schools have it worse but they literally don't have any other choice. I just don't see how they tell us no.

I see we're officially looking for a Wk 3 game. Something tells me we're going to get an interesting match-up. Something off the wall.

There is always 11-5A DI, not sure why that has not been considered.
No one wants to come to Lufkin to play. Stepp said himself that Lufkin got a bad deal with all the travel. The smoke he is talking about is not in regards to Lufkin.
HP may appeal too, so we will see.
Stepp was making a generalization of teams that avoid playing tough non district games.

Just a waiting game at this point. KTRE just announcing appeal, which this morning changed a bit because 9-5A DI voted against allowing Lufkin in their district. Now awaiting UIL decision later in February.
Lufkin appealing UIL realignment in order to move to closer district https://www.ktre.com/2024/02/02/lufkin-appealing-uil-realignment-order-move-closer-district/
I'm not worried about it. Once Lufkin makes the case it won't matter how they voted. Unless the UIL doesn't care about the kids. Lufkin is going to be 9-5A when it's all said and done.

Lufkin has Longview and Nacogdoches in non-district, and it depends on whether we just take this 7-5A DI placement lying down or petition a change on whether we play a third game in pre district.
Do you have any sources if Lufkin will appeal this?

If Quick or the Lufkin school district does not petition for a move South, then I guess they don't care about the extra travel to the fan base. I mean Joshua, Cleburne and Burleson are way over South of Ft Worth, Texas.
They have too. I can't drive to Dallas and back on a Friday night.
