Lancaster is setting at 5-5, and they seem to be a Jelke & Hyde kind of team. I would think with the right coaching 🙄 we could get this game. The only thing is they are playing at home.I have a daughter that lives in Duncanville so I was kind of leaning on going up there, but she called and said they coming down here for the weekend.

But if by chance we sneaked into the playoffs, what chance do you really think we could get past the first round

Lancaster is 4-5 overall and 3-3 in district. No big deal, they lost to some powerhouse teams in non district (SOC and Denton Guyer).

Chances in a possible playoff? Excuse me, let me clear my throat on this one.  My trust levels tell me no, not that we don't have the talent to win in the playoffs. We do, the kids would need to take it upon themselves.  However, nothing done by this staff in the last 6 years proves they can, and many here might say the same thing. You can't just turn winning on and off at your digression. Your either a winner or your not.

This is the type of game we normally go and lose by a couple of scores. I just think it would take a monumental effort from the kids and staff to get it done. Winning is one thing, but we essentially have to win by a TD for the win to even mean anything. Assuming Forney beats Cujo. Is there any chance Forney rests kids and takes Tyler lightly? Judging by how they like to run scores up on people, I highly doubt it. But it’s a possibility.

That would be "a little nasty" if Forney pulled that just to poke Lufkin one last time as a parting gift.

It would only serve our staff right to finally put a complete game together and beat Lancaster by a TD just to have Forney let up and allow Tyler to win lol

They do seem to be playing there best football down the stretch but 2 of those 3 wins have been against NM and WM.

Not sure if it was posted yet, but Stepp posted Longview number on twitter, it’s 2280.

That puts them on the bubble. The real enrollment of 2354 without the part time student math was put out there last Friday, so 2280 sounds just about right.

What is Lufkin enrollment

Not out anywhere yet. Not sure what it may be, except to say I believe Lufkin will be lower than the 2199 they turned in last realignment. Matt Steep keeps a closer eye on Longview than most in the DFW Metro area.

My rolling the dice guess?   2159  FYI - only a guess, most likely 20 too low!

There were a couple of changes to the 5A DI DCTF Top  10 teams this week.

Aledo remained #1, followed by Longview at #2. The main change was Forney moving to #8, and College Station moving to #9 and Richland #10.   #3 Mansfield Timberview and #4 Port Arthur Memorial lost and dropped out of the Top 10.

There are now no teams ranked in the Top 10 from District 8-5A DI, while there are two, Longview and Forney from 7-5A DI.

So far I see Lancaster, Forney, Longview going to 6A.  Tyler Legacy , North Forney and Mesquite are already 6A.

West Mesquite 2083 and North Mesquite 2099 remain at 5A DI enrollment numbers as does Tyler 2101.

As for future district opponents for Lufkin, College Station sits on a bubble at 2209, A&M Consolidated 2167 remains in 5A DI territory.

What we are not seeing all the enrollments for the New Caney and Humble ISD schools like New Caney, Porter, Kingwood, Kingwood Park.  The new New Caney West Fork school turned in 1658, how much does that affect New Caney which went 6A the last realignment, and Porter in 5A DI.

Need many more results to see anything clearly for Lufkin's future.  Just know that three of the current 7-5A DI school are for sure headed to 6A.  McKinney north will not be with Lufkin again no matter what happens.   So that only leaves Lufkin, Tyler, WM and NM left from 7-5A DI.  Need more information????

Aledo moving up to 6A, and DeSoto and Highland Park moving down to 5A DI  Yikes!   You know 5A DII is a perfect fit for Lufkin, it's pretty much a perfect fit for Lufkin in all our other sports according to UIL??  So, why make football the outlier for Lufkin?  Don't think we would win even in 5A DII in our situation, so guess it doesn't really matter.

Lufkin gets 4th with a win by 5 or more over Lancaster AND a Tyler loss

I was discussing that very thing this morning with someone, was telling them I give LP a shot vs Lancaster then what's in bold popped up in the convo.

I've read a couple blogs that mentioned them opting up, because they believe it will only be a two year stretch for them in 5A DI, then back to 6A in 2026. Why would they want to play 5A?

Forney likes to put numbers up. They act like they don’t run up scores but they sure don’t try to not lol.. I’m not sure they would be ok with eating an L. Not sure their ego would allow that. Who knows what’ll happen. Maybe they play starters for a half only or not at all. Maybe Tyler just beats Forney. I think it’s all a waste of conversation, because Lancaster will take care of business. I’ll be shocked if our staff calls a good enough game to win.

DCTF has Lancaster as a +17 point favorite over Lufkin.
