Don’t really like to single kids out because they are giving it their best; but Lufkin’s center looks undersized for the position and seems to get over powered by larger opponents. Looks like Young had little room to run last night, and the bulk of his yards came on his long run where he ran through 4/5 guys.

Kedren Young carries vs. McKinney North

He is way to little to be playing Center that's one of our issues on the line for sure he struggles to block the NT in front of him

So happy to see Ja Lynn Polk at Washington and Jerrin Thompson at Texas doing so well in college, and having the great success they were never really afforded here. Neither one had any great playoff success here in Lufkin.

Weren’t they both sophomores on the 2017 team that went 4 deep?

That was 6 years ago, and you are correct.  However, that same talent as juniors and seniors went 1-2 in the playoffs. Polk was hurt and could not play against Texas High in 2019.  Anyway, same track record of coaching failure and losing with good talent for most of these past 11 years. Doesn't matter what happens the rest of this season or next season, no one will remember Quick as a great coach, because he does not win big games, or win playoff games in his years here, and now may even miss the playoffs three years straight. He has certain people on staff he sticks with, who do not do a good job and he knows it, but stick with them anyway.  This losing is all on his head, and his legacy here will be reflected by his results and record when he leaves here. He could win the State Championship next season and it would not take away the mediocre results of the past 11 years. Just speaking the truth. I'm tired.

I was thinking the same thing. I would actually want him to step away and end on high note. If he did somehow make a state run. His legacy here has taken a big hit as HC. He would mostly be remembered as one of the best DC to come through Lufkin. Had he left for other opportunities else where. Heck..he may found success some place outside of Lufkin. He has definitely overstayed his welcome here. This train is close to coming completely off the rails. He had some cover when he was at least making the playoffs and going one and done. Now we looking at possible 3rd straight year with no playoffs. I wouldn't want to be him going into next season. With a possible 4th straight year of no post season staring me in the face. His job may not be on the line, but he should be embarrassed about the state of the program.

The lack of winning BIG games stick out. We have came up short on just about every pivotal game with this staff. There have been some huge blunders along the way too. Like giving up that 28-0 halftime lead to Longview in the first round. Losing in the first round at HOME against Texas High. I know they had some guys return from injury. And prob better than what their record indicated. And Polk was injured for us. But we had them at home and still had more than enough to win the game. That game really showed me how far Lufkin had fallen. I remember driving right up to the stadium for a parking spot. The lot was nowhere close to being full for a 1st round game at home.

Player of the game on offense last we was Krisean Preston. This based on two long TD receptions in the 1st half, a TD catch late in the 4th quarter with Panthers down 2 scores. Congratulations to him.

He could have and should have been used all year in this manner. This is also why we have issues with players not being used properly by the staff.

Yeah, congrats to Krisean. I hate it for the kid. He really could’ve left his mark on this program too had he been used correctly. Crazy how every game he’s been utilized in, we have great offensive success. Smh. Green oughta be ashamed of himself. Idiot.

I think Preston will have a huge SR season. They won't have Kedren to hand off to 30 times a game. I imagine he will see his fair share of targets next season. How much can Jayvion grow as a passer from now until then will be key. He is a D1 caliber athlete. He at least has that going for him. Unfortunately I don't think the OC is going anywhere anytime soon. He will force his system on him instead of building around his skill set.

If Young is at that  ND game ,he'  having a good time, ND has smashed USC 48-20

Im sick of college football right now. I've had 3 parlays this year bust on the final leg. I had Boise St money line last night in the final leg of a 7 leg parlay. Saw the score was 30-10 with 4 minutes left so I went bed dreaming of my money in the morning. Woke up to them losing 31-30 😢😭 😂. Football is an unforgiving game some times. This was a week after USC botched FG cost me on the O/U vs Arizona. I'm convinced I'm living in a simulation 😂.

I had to take a break from FanDuel. Had more success with the basketball parlays. I've learned to keep it at 3-5 legs.

Well we all have opinions and I respect them all, but I lost faith in Quick as the DC in 2008 when Round Rock ran 4 or 5 plays and he never adjusted until it was too late. The only thing that made him look good is a lot of those kids where studs on defense, and Outlaw probably overrode some of his calls. Just think about it ,we won one championship ...one... and he was the DC. To be honest if we did not have Reggie ,we might not have won that one. Quick is plain trash as a HC, I don't like him and never will as long as he's in Lufkin as the  coach. In the western days he would be run out of town on a rail 🤣

That was actually in 2006. But you are right about things never being the same after that. I was actually implying that he could've sought out other opportunities before that. Maybe around 04 or 05. Lufkin was a premier 5A program at that time. Quick had the credentials to land a decent job some place. I'm sure part of him felt obligated to stay after Outlaw passed.

One thing that will always stick with me. Is something a SLC fan said on the old 5A Texas Board. He asked the Lufkin fans if we were sure Quick wanted to be a head coach. His reasoning was that Quick had been a DC for a while. It was prob the right move in the short term. But looking back on it, if you take the emotion out of it. And you see where the program is at now. A change in new direction should've been made.

I think fans have been more than patient with him. I remember PA saying give him a few years to run things his way. And get a full class in from middle school through HS. Think a lot of fans done just that. Gave the man a chance to get his legs under him as a HC.

As I've said before, think we have seen the best his has to offer. If there was anything in that tool box to "fix" this stuff. We would've seen it by now. Sometimes you have a home project you think you can tackle. And you give it a good go and just can't get it done. You either call in help or just step aside and let someone else take care of it. And when you step aside, you can't just hand it over to your buddy, who's been there all day trying to help you "fix" it.

Personally I like simple well executed offense and defenses at the high school level. The well executed being the main part. Which I agree comes down on coaching. I still don’t think our kids have been developed athletically and nothing will change my mind on that. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize Preston wasn’t able to be covered and throw it to him. Just frustrating football to watch.

it starts at the middle school level... and we have never been interested at that level to develop... that is on the Head coach at the high school... it should be a strong emphasis...

Longview starts way before that... one reason they are as strong as they are year after year...

Yes it was 2006, and i  remember that old 5A board also. There were SLC fans talking about the talent Lufkin had. All you have to do is look at the number of Panthers that went on to the NFL.I can only think  of  3 or four guys from Southlake that went pro. Daniels is the only one that sticks out as playing a long time. They had a kicker that played I think for the Texans a while.

Aledo is the same way. Peewee up runs the same offense and defense. Not to the level of high school but the basic plays.

Our youth league is a joke. We don’t even have decent enough people out there teaching any of the kids discipline. There is more hollering, cussing, hoodrat crap going on more than there is anything else. There’s so much drama and issues between all of them they can’t even keep stuff together 😭
