  1. Not as much field to defend. I don't trust we can get back off the field
  2. I like that power formation with Kedren at QB. We should have been doing that this year
  3. They should be pretty good on that side next season. They will return enough kids.
  4. There offense is just as bad as ours. They're pretty good against the run. They do struggle in the back end a little bit. It's going to be interesting because both teams have to have this one. Lufkin is probably the slight favorite and should win it but Tyler is more then capable. I'm expecting a close game.
  5. Lufkin needs to have to ability to play 21 personal 12 personal. All we ever see is 11 and 20. I've been saying going double tight to help out the offensive line. We could do other things to. Like I was saying earlier. Green needs a stud QB who can make plays off script like Kordell was doing.
  6. Because he's not a good OC. He's really bad at his job. He needs a stud QB to bail him out. Someone who can make a play when nothing is there. He doesn't do anything different. Just same bs.
  7. The problem with youth football in Lufkin is most of the parents are full of it and the coaches are more about their kid then developing all the kids. But to be fair this isn't just a Lufkin problem. Youth football is pretty crappy across the board. Lufkin really needs a select team playing kids from Houston but the parents don't want to spend the money to travel or to play. Then our HS coaches don't take middle school football serious enough. Everyone gets to play and they divide the teams up evenly. Instead of doing a true A and B team. I don't have a problem with every kid playing but put them on a true B team so they can get more playing time and development. Smallwood was the C team QB when I was in middle school. He ended up being our best QB by HS. I'm glad I'm out the youth football business. My buddy wanted me to help coach his son in flag this year. I couldn't say no fast enough.
  8. Im sick of college football right now. I've had 3 parlays this year bust on the final leg. I had Boise St money line last night in the final leg of a 7 leg parlay. Saw the score was 30-10 with 4 minutes left so I went bed dreaming of my money in the morning. Woke up to them losing 31-30 😢😭 😂. Football is an unforgiving game some times. This was a week after USC botched FG cost me on the O/U vs Arizona. I'm convinced I'm living in a simulation 😂.
  9. I think Preston will have a huge SR season. They won't have Kedren to hand off to 30 times a game. I imagine he will see his fair share of targets next season. How much can Jayvion grow as a passer from now until then will be key. He is a D1 caliber athlete. He at least has that going for him. Unfortunately I don't think the OC is going anywhere anytime soon. He will force his system on him instead of building around his skill set.
  10. I don't think we would need any help if we win out but the Lancaster game in Dallas seems like a longshot at this point. I think we can play with them early on but we haven't shown the ability this season to finish outside of Consolidated game. Who is have a decent season by the way. Last night really showed me that we're not nearly multiple enough on defense. No 4 or 5 man fronts. We just don't take enough chances. We need to blitz a lot more and create havoc. In a perfect world you would love to just rush 3 or 4 guys read and react defense but we struggle rushing the QB and we can't set the edge on defense. We get killed by the jet sweep and outside zone. If we could of just gotten half of those 3rd and longs and 4th down stops. I think we're having a different discussion today. Positive I can take away from this is they didn't lay down and get blown out and it was looking like that was about to happen. I don't question the kids effort. Playoffs start now for these guys. You can lose anymore or the season is over. Next up Tyler.
  11. We really need his kid to move back. That would really make it interesting next season. Personally I'd put him at QB but I imagine he will play RB/WR. He would at least give them options.
  12. Yeah they really do. With a year of experience and certain teams moving up to 6A and losing key players at that. Should open the door for us next season. We have had moments this season where we look like a really good team. We just have to be more consistent.
  13. That was my buddy. His kid is the stud at Grand Oaks now. His little brother is Kordell. He got into with our classmate Alton after the game and other things.
  14. I disagree with you some on that. I think Timmins and Young have played really well at corner. It's an extremely hard position to play and you're matched up 1 on 1 most of the time against the best athletes on the field. We can't ask them to cover those types of kids for a long amount of time. Timmins doesn't run up on that play and the RB just keeps it for a TD. It was just really a good play design off a running concept they had been gashing us on all game. You can't fault him on that play. I think the problem with the secondary is the play of the safeties. They're the ones that gave up the long TD on a slant and had the PI in the end zone. The main problem to me last night was the LB play. That's as bad as a game I've seen tackling since Beaumont Westbrook hung what was it 70 on us. We forget how bad those defenses really were during the Stafford years. That's what they looked like last night. I think McKinney North is a good offense but they not that good.
  15. It looked like it was a collective effort in the stinking it up but our LBs absolutely cost us more then anything last night and the lack of pressure on the QB. You can't just keep sending 3 if you're not getting home. It's way to much time to ask our DBs to cover. I honestly didn't think the corners played bad. Yeah they gave up a few plays but that's just football. They tackle well and cover well for the most part. I put majority of the blame on the LBs just playing bad and we should of never moved Menefee from safety. Our FS play is bad. I think we should start #25 Waters back there. That kid is a football player. Overall a lot of blame to go around last night
  16. Last night was more on the players then the coaching. The coaching sucked but they not the one missing tackles and dropping passes. I can't put all that on the coaches last night. At some point you have to have some pride and make a play. Just my thought.
  17. For what it's worth I don't think we have better players then McKinney North to where we can over whelm them with talent. Just look at Duncanville. They're about as simple as you can get and they blow teams out because they're just so much better that's what I mean it's about the Jimmy's and the Joe's. Last night was on the coaches and the players. Next season is the year for me when the 25 class is all SRs. They will return 15 starters and handful of other kids that played a ton.
  18. That's a good question. I know he wants to play and some of it was they were just doubling him and he couldn't get off the block. Same with Alexander. But honestly in a 3-4 they're really supposed to eat up blocks and the LBs are supposed to make plays and our LBs looked really bad last night. I also think we should have left Menefee at FS. So he can oversee everything. Instead you put him on one side of the field and they just run the other way majority of the time. This was the worst game Lufkin has played all year. They just did not look prepared. I'm about as discouraged as I can be. I still believe they will be much better next season but this year has been a complete disaster. The way Lancaster is playing I don't think we can beat them out for the last playoff spot. If we lose to JT that game won't matter anyway.
  19. You have to do something if you can't rush the QB. Letting him stand there is a recipe for disaster. I agree don't get predictable with it but I'm just saying we don't blitz near enough.
