Who are the 9th graders? I didn't realize they had some youngsters like that. I know they had some 10th graders. Woods is looking like a good hire. Its early but he seems to have them headed in the right direction. They will be scary in 2 years.

We should beat both of these teams in all seriousness. Tyler struggled with Legacy I'm not convinced. They're good but they're playing a bunch of 10th graders. I think this says more about where McKinney North and Lancaster is at. Tyler should had won that game last night. Had a TD called back in the last 40 seconds. Horse $hit call.

They're pretty good. I think we can stop the run game. They have a sophomore RB#26 that can go. #10 is the main target at WR he's going to Navy he's good. They will use 2 QB's #7 and #3. They both can run and pass but #3 is supposed to be the better runner. Both are more then capable. They really like that slant off the rpo look. Offense has some creativity. Defensively they looked better then I thought. They play aggressive #1 at FS is committed to Oregon and I think #0 is the LB that transferred in I believe. High 4 star kid. They're good team. We're going to have to play well or it's going to get bad.

Forney deep dive is over. They're much better then last season. We will have our hands full for sure.

To be fair he did make that decision based on someone else saying that it was getting bad and he should. Once he got back and saw it was really nothing he unlocked the topic. This board has seen a lot worse. At the end of the day Longview has to win another what 4 games to match or pass our streak lol. Glass half full. I don't know if we will ever have a 28-0 Longview halftime playoff level board meltdown again 😂 that was probably the low point. Could you imagine this board during the 92 season. We thought 4-6 was a blood bath lol. Expectations probably wasn't the same. We lived through the best era of Lufkin football hands down. I just realized this is probably how Nebraska fans feel.

Forney out scored us 26-7 in the 2nd quarter last season. It was 0-0 after 1. The 3rd quarter was also 0-0 then they outscored us 15-14 in the 4th. Outside a disastrous 2nd quarter that was fueled by turnovers it was pretty even. They lost to Lancaster 56-7 last year and 46-7 to Longview last year. I think we made them look a lot better then the really were last year. If we don't turn the ball over giving them short fields and a bunch of 3 and outs I think we will have a close game. We had like 4 or 5 turnovers last season when we played them if I'm not mistaken. Just have to take care of the ball and finish enough drives.

I have watched a little hudl tape on Forney vs West Mesquite. Not a ton but I plan on doing a deep dive today. Won't be able to tell much. West Mesquite is a terrible team. That defense clearly had the over vs Forney. I think Lufkin will force them to throw the ball a lot more then normal. They have good WRs. One of them is a stud who can really make plays. The QB is solid nothing special. About like the AMC kid. Lufkin will be by far the best team they have faced to date. They're good team that has absolutely beaten up on cans but they beat bad teams like you're supposed to. If Lufkin doesn't turn it over like last season against them. I think this game will be really interesting. They not Longview on defense.

The spread definitely isn't the problem. It's how we run the spread that's the problem. Total lack of imagination.

Yeah but how else are we going to hit those plays unless we really take some shots. 2-3 deep shots a game is not enough imo. I think we're definitely capable of hitting them. We hit a couple against Legacy. I get it can't count Nac lol but Preston had the big one on 4th down vs Consolidated. I would rather take 2-3 deep shots a series then hand it off 3 times and punt.

Probably the same amount as his rushing total. The offense is just too predictable. No pre-snap motion no tempo. We take way to long to get the play call in. I don't know why Preston isn't getting 10 targets a game. He literally was behind the Longview defense on the first drive and would of had a TD if the pass is there. He should be getting about 4 to 5 of those a game at a minimum. Not having Gavin didn't help either. McLendon should be back for the defense this week that will be a big boost.

Don't focus on the Longview offense. It's the defense that's big time. That's going to cause Aledo all kinds of problems. Not sure if it will be enough to beat them but I imagine it will be a good game.

1989 17-0 to Longview 😂 to be fair we have shut them out twice since then 95 and 03. Lufkin was shutout 4 times in 81. That must of been rough if anyone can remember that season.

I wouldn't go must win yet but after that we would need to for sure beat the Mesquite schools and Tyler. Pretty confident that will happen unless something goes horribly wrong. The McKinney North and Lancaster games will decide our fate. Neither one of those teams scare me. McKinney North can't play defense and Lancaster can't score. If Tyler beats McKinney North then we should win out minus Forney.

The offense is my concern because Forney is going to score points. We should be able to slow them down but for how long if the offense can't generate anything.

I don't think he could have if we didn't help them as much as we did. When you have 3 Drives that start at the 27,17 and 5 you're asking to get blown out. I'm not saying they didn't have a lot to do with it but we had some opportunities to score and couldn't make the play. Next week will tell us even more because Forney isn't as good as Longview. Remember they beat those guys like a drum last season (46-7) too and will probably do it again. Longview is head and shoulders better then everyone in 5A outside of Aledo and honestly I think they're going to beat them and win state this year. Longview is beating the brakes off everyone not just us.

I also heard Zion will be ok. Nothing serious. My buddy said it looks like they have mind control over us 😂

We definitely need some fresh ideas on offense. We need a faster tempo with way more pre snap motion.

I think the offense needs to figure something out. If they can't eat up clock and sustain drives the defense can only do so much. Longview had 350 yards rushing in 2022. Last night I think they finished with 186 on 38 carries or something close to that. That's a drastic improvement where we couldn't stop the run at all against them a year ago. Longview had 330 yards of total offense last night. I think Lufkin finished with 220 yards(That's the problem) 100 yards difference shouldn't be a 42 point gap. That tells me we have up short fields and turned the ball over. They had 3 scoring drives that went 27,17 and 7 yards. Defense can't do anything about that against a team like Longview. Offensively we just didn't look prepared. We had some plays where the WRs got open and we just couldn't get them the ball. Like I said who else in 5A has a defense that dominant? Absolutely no one. I don't think Forney is remotely as good as Longview on defense. Offensively they're going to cause some problems in the passing game that we will have to be ready for.

I don't think it's a big deal PA. My grandpa always told me you win some, you lose some, and some you wish you never played. They whipped us pretty good tonight but we had some missed opportunities and self inflicted miscues that certainly didn't help. I thought the defense played about as well as they could given the circumstances. The pass defense really let us down tonight. We had the perfect start on defense. Great field position and the offense comes away empty in the red area. Had Preston for a TD. Lufkin again had another opportunity on plus side of the field and we get the INT return right after having the TD called back. Murphy probably scores if that pass is on target. Longview also had the big punt return so 2 of there first 3 TDs started from inside our on 30. Lufkin didn't really threaten again before the half. Then we give up the busted coverage TD before half. That's probably the 4th busted coverage we've seen this year. Second half we drive down inside the red area and come away empty. Get a stop and the Longview punter hits an absolute bomb to change the field. Offense stalls and then Tutt hits DK Reese on a dime and a missed tackle he scores. Yeah they completely outclassed us but we should of had a better showing then that. The offense just didn't look prepared but the Longview defense is probably the best in 5A. We won't see anything close to that level rest of the way.

Glass half full. The run defense has been about as good as it can be against Tatum. The two short fields hurt. Credit Willie Nelson he made the plays. The Murphy TD coming back was absolutely back breaking. A few plays later Hammond throws the INT that is returned deep in our territory. I still think we have a playoff team that is headed in the right direction.
