  1. Something tells me you guys wanted the one in Temple 😂. They're 1-4 right now without him and Taurean York who just got SEC freshmen of the week for leading the Aggies in tackles. I think there has been more former players with kids that played but just not the big time star kids. Trey Crain son played last year but he wasn't a D1 kid. I'm sure they're a few more. Quinn Holeman son was a DE last year but once again he wasn't a D1 kid.
  2. And that's why I have Kedren over Lane as a RB. Kedren puts in the work as far as conditioning and lifting and just has a higher ceiling as a RB. He's going to break Lane rushing record in essentially 11 less games. I think Lane was the better football player but as a pure RB I don't think Lane ever had a chance other than FB in the NFL. Jumbo RBs are a thing of the past now. It's all about speed. Remember Jamal Charles was the other RB in that class and his game just translates so much better in the Pros. Same for Kedren. I would rank Lane a head of Kedren on the all time Lufkin list but he's not the better RB prospect imo. I know we're splitting hairs but it's the off week and we don't have anything better to do 😂
  3. I think when Kedren is done at Notre Dame he is going to be some teams featured back on Sunday.
  4. Remember he was on that 97 team that started 5-0 and got to #5 in the polls. John Tyler was #1 and Longview was #3 at the time. I think Marshall was #10. Lufkin started 0-2 in district losing to Longview after blowing a HT lead. Then lost to Marshall by a TD when they stuffed Garcia at the 6 inch line as my grandpa would call it lol. We would beat #1 JT that year 24-14 at Abe. Everyone thought that would secure a playoff spot until Tyler Lee upset Lufkin the next week by the same score which is infamously known for the Brawl game. Them were some tough years when that district was at it's peak.
  5. Thanks for filling me in. I knew Judson was the top dog but I know Foster was not to far behind possibly.
  6. I'll give my top 5 Reggie McNeal Terrance Parks Kordell Rodgers Tyler Stubblefield Courtney Garcia I think Rodgers could make the case for #2.
  7. Kedren Young is by far the best RB prospect to come out of Lufkin in my lifetime. I can go back to Denvis Manns so I can't comment on Eric Curl other then he was pretty good from my understanding. Kedren is a future NFL RB if he stays healthy. That's what those kind of kids look like in HS. I told Chad that Kedren was a better RB then Jorvorskie but Jorvorskie was a better football player if that makes sense. He is going to be a star at Notre Dame.
  8. The main kid to watch from that 7th grade class will be Mason Mark. He is a future D1 kid. Karsen Henderson is another future D1 kid to watch from that class. They have plenty of skill kids. It's going to come down to lineman for them. Lineman are the hardest to project. That's why you see a lot of 3 stars end up being 1st RD picks. Offensive line is by far the hardest evals.
  9. I saw where our 7th grade beat Longview Foster. Not sure if it was our Purple or Gold team. Maybe that group is a little better then I thought.
  10. I think the caliber of team. Tyler is a little better then Tyler Legacy and McNorth and Lancaster are probably a notch above Tyler but not by much. I think it's as simple as that. There isn't a team left on our schedule that's as good as Longview or Forney. I'd be willing to bet any team in the district would be 0-2 with those two out the gate. That's why I'm not going to overreact until we lose to McNorth or Tyler that's when I'll start to grab the towel.
  11. I agree we got the two hardest games off the schedule. Lufkin showed they're capable of playing with higher caliber teams like Forney even short handed but cannot with the upper echelon of the elites like Longview and Aledo. Not sure anyone else in 5A is in that class. The rest of the schedule really is manageable. We will be 4-2 going into the pivotal McNorth game. That game will decide the season. Good thing is none of these teams left really play defense. We faired really well most of the night against one of the elite offenses in 5A. I'm not completely ready to throw the towel in yet.
  12. In 3 weeks will know exactly our fate. It's McKinney North here at Abe. That will be the season. Although we could still beat Tyler and Lancaster to get in technically but that's when I'd thow the towel in.
  13. It's a clown show. We're throwing jump balls to a 5'6 WR. Kevo is also getting jobbed. I don't know what they're doing with Preston but it doesn't make any sense. I don't have a problem with the 3-4 because of depth at DL but at least have the right kids in the right position. Menefee needs to go back to FS and stabilize the back end. They have kids on the sidelines that could also be helping out on defense but they're showing Favoritism to other kids even when they've been out performed during the spring, scrimmage and practice.
  14. Our coaches are just bad at their jobs. They have kids on the sidelines that could help. They have kids playing out of position. All around pathetic. I hope these guys find new jobs in the off season.
  15. I didn't know he was like that. He has another gear. Hook Em though 🤘🤠 lol
  16. Defensively we just seemed off on alignment. We got absolutely gashed on the run. I know we're missing 2 starters tonight but it shouldn't had been that bad. The rest of these games are now must wins. We can afford to lose one more statically but that's it. Going to have to win 2 of 3 between Tyler, McNorth and Lancaster. Mesquite schools will be a feel good game.
  17. The personal fouls are a joke. I wouldn't let those kids play next game. Pathetic.
  18. We needed one stop when it was 21-21 and we give up a long kick return and the wheels eventually come off
  19. I'm a little surprised by that sophomore RB they got. He is really good.
  20. I'll be honest I don't think we have enough to finish it but man the effort this week is encouraging. Definitely need a stop to start the 3rd.
  21. He can't take that sack there. Defense is trying but our offense better come ready. Stops will be at a premium.
  22. He may miss some time. Have to make smarter decisions but he's still on the team.
