Everything posted by timeout!

  1. That was suppose to be a plus coming into the season. We have had issues with the FG team since the scrimmage.
  2. You could be right. But if we come out flat like this, it could get out of hand quick. Not just with Longview, but against any of the better teams in district. It's not that we in close game that bothers me. It's all the miscues I'm seeing. We still tied against a good team, and we not having our best night. We have some dangerous weapons at WR. Those guys can do some damage if TJ can get them the ball.
  3. Not sure what it is. But this staff is horrible when it comes to having guys ready to play in big games. Special teams need some serious work. We will how the halftime adjustments go. We would be down 21 plus if we were playing Longview, Forney or Lancaster tonight. Hope we come out fired up second half. Gotta give AMC some credit too, They are a solid group and well coached.
  4. AMC JV - 34 Lufkin JV - 0 Half I know it's just JV and things change when they get older. But you hardly see Longview sub-varsity teams losing like this. I've watched some of their games versus us and other teams. They play the same way on all levels.
  5. He hangs out on the message boards and interacts with people from the communities of teams he cover. So he has some insight as to what is going with those programs. I don't think many of those other guys do that.

  7. He pretty savvy and has some grit to him. Been a starter since his freshman year, so he some experience. We did a great job of containing him last year. Looking forward to seeing our team get tested again.
  8. We essentially lost two games because of one bad outing. We can't afford to be behind the 8 ball again to start district.
  9. That’s what so great about head to head matchups. Everything will be answered on the field. We’ve been waiting to see what this group can do. Everything has been an appetizer up to this point. Things will start to ramp up Friday and into district. One more dress rehearsal and then the games start to count. I think we have some nice pieces to work with. But so does everyone else. I think this is the year Lufkin needs to make a statement. I know some may be looking at next year. And it could possibly be the year we make a run. I just think it may take while to replace Kedren production and the experience of TJ. So let’s ride that experience and take advantage of our 4 star Rb this year. One thing is for sure. We will know what type of team we have after that Longview game. They will put that mirror in our face and show us exactly who we are. Let’s start with a clean game this Friday and see where the chips land the next week. And Forney will not hold back or feel sorry for us the following week if we lose. If they get a chance to put 60+ on us at our homecoming, they will. I almost want to beat them as bad as Longview. I watched some video of all the antics they were doing on the sidelines last year vs us.
  10. As I mentioned earlier. Lufkin will be the underdog from here on out. With the exception of about 3 opponents. The Mesquite schools and maybe Tyler High. Great opportunity for our guys to go out earn some respect.
  11. I think we win by at least 2-3 TD's from what I saw. The pundits will have us as underdogs. I know DCTF had them ranked much higher than us. Will be interesting to see how much they have them favored.
  12. I saw several positives Friday night and few things that concern me. Most of if has already been discussed. Lufkin passing game looked good for most of the night. The Qb and Wrs already look in rhythm. Great confidence booster heading into the thick of our schedule. Not sure what happened to Gavin though? He didn't play many snaps this game and I only counted one carry for him. I wrote it off as him being banged up a little the game script calling for something else. I hope this was just an outlier. Would hate to see him reduced to just 10-15 snaps a game. This marks the 3rd straight week we have mixed an extra point. We did it in the scrimmage and it's still hasn't been fixed 2 games into the season. Thats the type of thing that will bite you against better teams. Lufkin will be operating on thin margins come district. Every point counts in highly contested games. Thought the secondary played well. Despite Lufkin subbing guys in and out. Waters, Timmons and Evan Young are all solid. Nac earned 14 of those points. Our guys were in position to make a play, the WR for Nac just made some great catches. All you can do is tip your hat and try to get him the next play. Preparation will be key for Lufkin from this point forward. We will be underdogs this week and most of our district games. The Mesquite schools and Tyler are the only games we will not be picked to lose. Great opportunity for the kids to go out and show they are different bunch from past Lufkin teams.
  13. Not sure the reasoning behind it. But I felt he was severely underutilized last year. I thought they would break him out vs Longview last year. He only saw a few snaps though. Glad he finally getting some PT.
  14. Already 3 days from week 2 action. The season comes and goes in a flash. We have two more games before that brutal district race starts. This team will have the opportunity to play one of the best in TX in a few weeks and prove themselves. Thats all one can really ask for. In the meantime, let's keep getting better and pray for good health.
  15. Think they have been burnt by Lufkin too many times. They cooled off of us after getting knocked out in the 2nd round, and being preseason #1 in 2018.
  16. Thanks Would like to see him get some attempts this year. Kid has a leg on him.
  17. Do you know what his longest made FG was last year? Been waiting for him to get a chance to show what he can do, as for as long goals.
  18. I watched a condensed game of Forney play Crandall. And I agree about nothing just stood out to me. We just can't make it easy for them and play 4 full qtrs. Forney was up 35-3 in the second half and still throwing the ball down field. Watched the Lancaster game vs Skyline and kinda felt the same. Think that is a winnable game and like PA said, things may not be cut and dry like some think. Main thing for Lufkin is to find something to improve on every week. I want to see the special teams clean up their mistakes this week against NAC.
  19. Take him out and give all the backups some playing time. That experience will only help down the line. Keep Kedren legs as fresh as possible. He will have plenty to do come district. This also applies to most of the other starters. My only concerned would be conditioning down the stretch, if we get into 4qtr slug fest. We got bodies on the defensive side. Not so sure about the offense. With with the exception of Rb...We have some depth there. I didn't realize how fast Demarcus Chin is. He made the play of the game chasing that Legacy player down on the botched FG. He may have earned himself a few more opportunities.
