  1. Agree 100% They were about as bad as Forney. The best way to shut a team like that up, is bust their butt on the field.
  2. I went to the JV game yesterday. Lancaster was all over Lufkin before you could blink. Believe it was 18-0 1st qtr. They blitz the entire game and we couldn’t stop it. Also had trouble snapping the ball and couldn’t get a good punt off because of constant pressure. The team did settle down some once Kenneth Waters moved over to Qb. He had the speed and quickness to make up for the lack of protection. Broke a few long runs. Final score 40-20 Lancaster. There was also big fight on the Lufkin sidelines. One of their players punched a Lufkin player while pushing him out of bounds. The two started going at it. And most of Lancaster bench cleared and ran over to Lufkin side to join in. Took the coaches and refs a a minute to settled everyone down. Those guys were jawing the whole time. Lufkin program will have to toughen up overall to really compete with some of these schools. Hope varsity can come and do something later. Just to shut those fans and players up.
  3. I say go PA. I would be a little disappointed if you broke the streak right now. It's just one more game. And even though the odds are stacked against us. You could say you were there when the Pack pulled the upset.
  4. Not disagreeing with this. But they won't offer Ralph that much money. And the facilities are pretty outdated. Honestly a lot 4A schools have better facilities than Lufkin. There was a time Lufkin was somewhat ahead of the curve. I believe we were one of the first to have a jumbotron out this way. Along with the indoor workout facility.
  5. Ralph just getting started. He will have other opportunities open up for him. Not sure Lufkin would be on his radar if it came about. Too many other places with better resources and pay.
  6. So 15 more wins will get him to 100. He may stick around long enough to reach it.
  7. All this talk about records and milestones got me to thinking. Are there any records or personal milestones Quick has broken or approaching? You would think there would be at least a couple after being here so long. What are his current career highlights here as HC? I would say a playoff win against Westfield and maybe 1 or 2 district championships. Thats all I can really think of. Guess you could throw in getting us back to the 3rd round of the playoffs after a long drought.
  8. Consolidated just doesn't match up well with us for whatever reason. It was the same with Katy years ago.
  9. It's another big game and opportunity for Lufkin to prove themselves. The optimist will say Lufkin can still turn this season around. One BIG win by enough points opens the door to the playoffs. Everyone starts back over with zero wins. You then have a chance to turn your season around. BUT..if we being pessimistic. We have yet to win a big game this year. Even against a very beatable Tyler team. You also look at the history of Quick in big games. Not much to see there. So why should the last game of the season against one the better teams in district be any different? You look at the district standing and you see we have only beaten the bottom feeders in this district. The only silver lining in all of this. Is that we have guys that can play. Kedren, Preston, Taylor, and Murphy are exceptional skill players. We have two solid DTs and a stud at Lb along with a talented, but inexperienced secondary. So our tank is not completely empty. Unfortunately none of that has been enough up to this point.
  10. Well we will have something to play for Friday. Lancaster won't come in sleep walking during the first half this time. They have something on the line too.
  11. The game was canceled yesterday. Two heavy weights square off.
  12. The excuse bucket has ran dry. I believe the "Lufkin has not talent" excuse card can finally be removed from the deck. It's been a convenient and easy out for while. Most of us know we don't have loaded rosters with players like Dez, Lane, McNeal, Dixon, etc. Like years past, but we have had more than enough to have shown better over the last 12 years.
  13. Longview eventually pulled away. But Tyler did have a pulse for most of the game. The new guy definitely has them headed in the right direction. Glad to see Kedren get the record. Would love to see him get a chance in the playoffs. But then again, not sure the extra hits in what would most likely be a one and done. Would be worth the risk. He's moving on to better things.
  14. Longview 20 Tyler 12 3rd Tyler playing Longview much tougher than Lufkin did. And has already scored just as many points in one game. As we have in 3 games. Our coaches are just bad at game planning. Especially against good teams.
  15. Thats a good question. He is married with kids now. I don't know anything about his wife. But convincing the wifey to move to Lufkin, could be a challenge. And that goes for anyone married looking to relocate from the city. Plus coaching in small town like Lufkin comes with its own unique politics. Not sure I would want to coach here and have to deal with family and old friends in my ear about their kids. Some people think you owe them something, just because they grew up with you. I want a new staff in place ASAP! But even I know Lufkin could be a hard sell. The outdated facility and being way out here in deep ETX doesn't do us any favors. Not sure about Dixon. Think he has had enough with this area. I don't think he would want to come back. But you never know.
  16. Glad to see the girls doing well. Keeping my fingers crossed they can make a playoff run.
  17. They had a Qb(Gavin) but he was moved to a different position. I was in favor of them turning it over to him after the Lancaster game. He might not have been as polished as Hammonds, but the dude was gamer and had chemistry with Preston. Unfortunately he wasn't available anyway. The staff decided to invest 3 years into Hammonds and it didn't pay off. Not his fault the line was bad and he wasn't put in the best position to be successful. I think you need a mobile Qb or a true gun slinger if you gonna run any type of spread offense.
  18. And she just a young HS girl. She has no understanding of what has happened to this program, or the dynamics at play that continue to hinder it. She simply wants to cheer them on. They played hard, as Quick would say, and thats all that matters to her. Plus these kids weren't around during the glory years. They only know Lufkin as being an average to below average team. The highlight of the year for them is beating Nacogdoches. They don't see the faded image of an apex Lion that was once our program like we do. Losing big games and no playoff success is the norm for them. They don't know anything different.
  19. I been saying this for a while. Plug him at Longview and he would be fine. That scheme would make his life a lot easier.
  20. The whole program needs a make over. We knew Lufkin would have to step it up when we saw who would be in our district. Lufkin always had a speed and athleticism advantage vs most of the teams in our old Houston districts. Doesn't matter what district we are in next year. If we continue doing the same stuff. So let's say we are placed in a weak district. What's the reward for making the playoffs? Most likely facing a team from a much more competitive district. Which gets us back to being one and done. Get your program fixed and you don't have to worry about such things. Longview doesn't worry about stuff like that. They actually want good teams in their district. It's a chance for them to prove how good they are. There was a time Lufkin was the same.
  21. I think it was more him just wanting to secure the win. And playing the numbers game. What are the chances of Lufkin beating Lancaster vs them potentially turning the ball over and Lufkin possibly scoring. When it's all said and done, neither will be moving on. Unless Forney decides to rest most of their players the last game and give Tyler a shot. Tyler coaches aren't perfect. I did see some head scratching moments. McFalls should be more involved in that offense. He's too dynamic of a player not to have more touches. But of course it's hard to out bad Lufkin when it comes to coaching. Lol The only team we have managed to beat. Is the bottom dweller. And we struggled with them well into the second half of that game. It's just a bad look for this program.
  22. Am I the only one that think Green intentionally sabotages games sometimes? I'm probably wrong, but it sure feels like it.
  23. Green won't sniff that job. He lucky to still be here. Him and Quick are a packaged deal.
