Lufkin's Cooper Knight and Kaleb Hillis have a friendship that goes well beyond the baseball field. Many times, they see themselves as much as family as they do teammates.

Therefore when National Signing Day approached, it only seemed fitting they'd get the chance to stand beside each other as they made their decisions official.

Knight elected to join defending DII national champion Angelo State, while Hillis elected to stay close to home while joining SFA to continue his playing career.

The Lufkin Panthers spent the tournament portion of their schedule looking for consistency in the lineup. If the last two days of the Integra Classic are any indication, they may be hitting their stride at the right time as the Panthers closed their own tournament with a 7-0 win over the New Caney Eagles Saturday afternoon.

Panthers (8-5) have a pair of road district games over spring break as they travel to Huntsville at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday before playing at New Caney Porter at 6 p.m. Friday.

I swear the last 2-3 years we just can’t hit the baseball.

I've been told ... hitting the baseball isn't as easy as some would think... as to "can't hit the baseball last 2-3 years... 2 years ago Lufkin had a pretty good hitting team.. if i remember correctly one player even hit .500?
