PackAttack Posted April 6 Author Report Share Posted April 6 Lufkin Panther baseball is playing in Huntsville, leading 10-5 in the 6th. Pack with 12 hits, and Cooper Knight on the mound. A win would keep the Panthers in first place in district at 9-0 and 17-5 on the year. Lufkin next takes on New Caney Porter at home on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM. PurpleNation Posted April 6 Report Share Posted April 6 Lufkin has won 12 straight and 15-1 in the last 16 games with the lone loss coming to one of the best teams in Texas by 1 run. I've done a deep dive into Lufkin's schedule and all the loses have been to good teams. This is a really good team. Wonder how they compare to the team we had 2 years ago. Although this team does not hit the long ball much, overall they probably might hit more consistently up and down the lineup than the team 2 years ago. Lot of power hitters on that team too. Errors absolutely killed Lufkin tonight. You can't give up an 8 run inning and expect to beat anyone. Lufkin will be fine. They won't make that many errors again all season. The Pack remaining in 1st place in District in 16-5A with a 11-1 record and a 3 game lead over 2nd place Kingwood Park. Lufkin is now 19-6 on the year. Whereas, Hillis at one point in the 5th inning had only thrown 48 pitches. Lufkin hitters really make the opposing pitchers work up a high pitch count.
