I agree. I’d like to see more shots. Problem is Forney and Lancaster have D1 safeties. I’d play those guys deep over the top and let them go get it. Need something crossing underneath. Other problem is deep routes take time. I think it all comes down still to a predictable offense.

We’d need to accurately throw the deep ball. Him being open doesn’t matter if that ball can’t get there because I agree. He should have multiple explosive plays and pull people out of the box

I would love to know Kedren’s yards after contact. I think that will be very telling in the lines ability to block. I don’t blame the individual kids on not preforming. The groups not playing to a high level also have the longest standing coaches on the staff…

I’m a big fan of building around what you have. The defense did it. Two running backs like we have and you don’t think Kedren young would be more dangerous running down hill. He isn’t a shotgun running back. He is pro style.

After watching that game Friday there isn’t much upside I saw. The offense is simple to stop. Rush four because we can’t block three and let your linebackers clean up. Run a high safety to pick off the deep ball because we put a ton of air under it. Longview showed no fear of the defense rushing straight up the middle even when Zion was in there. Longview had developed athletes and Forney will too. Hope I’m wrong. I’ll be watching either way.

Last night was the tale of two programs. One ran a varied offense, one ran the same two plays to start every drive. One put its studs in positions to affect the game, one did not. One had developed athletes, one did not. Did any of our four teams score a point?

I think chasing Young gets old for defenses. He stays fast even in the fourth quarter. I hope the Oline has built some confidence with how the last game ended. They will need it tomorrow. They get a little push Young can do the rest. Will be a fun night

Young plays like that we will be hard to beat. That was a fast team we played last night. Didn’t expect to see them that improved from the year before. Defense made huge plays. Looking forward to the trip up to Longview. Should be fun.

I’ve beat this horse dead. But I’m afraid if they aren’t winning now in the sub varsity levels. It’s not going to magically get better on varsity after this talent leaves.

Signs of a good program

If the problem running was just a loaded box I wouldn’t be worried. It’s the losing the line of scrimmage that bothers me. Lineman blown backwards off the line. We know better defenses are coming. That’s what has me worried. What happens when normal Dlineman move our guys back and division 1 level linebackers are free to flow. That being said love seeing the pass game take advantage of the box. That was something we struggled with last year. I also think the DBs have played great with the first unit.

The amount of run plays I watched with our lineman two yards behind the line of scrimmage is embarrassing. If kedren Young wasn’t out running back we’d be doomed

The Olines inability to move defenders off the line of scrimmage is going to hurt us bad when district starts.

There was a coach In Arkansas that would do this. Never punted and only did onside kicks. Numbers supported it but goes against football tradition. I think at the high school level I wouldn’t kick either. Your telling me you’d bet against our offense scoring from the 2 with Kedren and Gavin?

If you believe you can convert over 50% of your two point attempts on the season why wouldn’t you go for two every time?

If they can’t stop the run this one will be over fast. They had a difficult time with Young last year. Having two back over 220 will make for a long night. Cant wait.

I’ve been as tough on the line as anyone and I thought the run blocking looked good. Didn’t focus on pass blocking but we are going to live and die by the run.

I personally don’t think he looks anything close to his listed weight. Guess that’s why he is a four star

Young is playing at 220 this year. Was 210 last year.

Like what I’ve seen. Team looks a lot better on offense than they did this spring. Granted number 3 helps. Gavin is also a load at running back.

I like Menefee at outside backer in the 3-4 defense. That will be some serious speed off the edge. I’m more in the camp right now Zion is getting a lot of high offers based of size. And I get that. I want to see him take over on the field for 70% of the plays. Heads up nose guards are nightmares for centers to block and most in high school don’t look like him.

Van Horn is decently tall I believe. They look like normal high school linebackers.

I’m going to try to make the freshman/JV portion if work allows. If not varsity for sure.
