  1. I’d disagree with this. Quick makes $130k. Money is there. Staff size is pretty large compared to some schools. The resources can easily be there but people believe Lufkin has pretty dated football facilities while if you look around we are probably bottom half of 5A schools.
  2. I’m feeling a little optimistic only because Young is a bad man. If her rolls we could be set. Another big game from Preston would be nice too
  3. Could not agree more. His ypc aren’t the best, still great, but those yards after contact have to be high
  4. i think Lufkin is an appealing job for those that know about it. You have natural athletes, whether I think they are developed or not, great fans when winning. I’d want to know money is going to be spent to upgrade facilities. That would be a must. This is building up to be an interesting couple months. If Quick was to step away I just hope the hiring goes fast for the juniors. They don’t need to be lost in all this.
  5. The question is if he came. Who does he bring and who does he keep. Got to have a full staff on the same page.
  6. I’m just impressed you waste two running backs of that talent in the spread offense.
  7. We all know that offense won’t get molded around the talent we have. They have made that very clear. Is this the same offense Lane played in?
  8. My big what if is, if the line was good is the offense still bad? Play are probably still basic but just opening up running lanes would change everything. Giving one more second is pass protection is a huge deal.
  9. I’ve been saying Johnson should play since spring. If nothing else for the run option to complement Kedren.
  10. Last night I watched Lufkin has a few issues. Once again we couldn’t block to save our lives. On the final drive our best offensive weapon was left in to pass protect. Qb had no time. The entire offense scheme makes no sense. On defense we have no pass rush. Our line is getting worn down because they are absorbing blocks the whole time. Team speed isn’t there. The Tyler team was fast. We are not. It showed. They are strong. We are not. It showed.
  11. I agree Lufkin has been in some games. I also agree they are talented. The problem is they still play bad football. Good district or not you can’t watch these games and tell me it’s good football. The only team I’ve seen play worse football might be Legacy and Nac. I see a team that honestly should be 7-1 but they are what their record says they are.
  12. They have coaches that care. Sadly some don’t and they have more power than those that do. Hopefully people step down and I think a new hire won’t come from inside the program
  13. The Oline is the easily fixable part. It’s not hard. If the line played better this team is 6-1.
  14. I’m honestly not a fan of youth football below 7th grade because of a lot of the reasons listed above. But building a solid middle school program is key. From running basic plays, understanding the expectations, learning the Weightroom, all of it. If you look at the top programs in the state top to bottom they will look the same. It might take a “good” group to push for state but all groups expect to win.
  15. Aledo is the same way. Peewee up runs the same offense and defense. Not to the level of high school but the basic plays.
  16. Size isn’t a good excuse for him getting beat. All of them get beat. The line of scrimmage is lost nearly every play. They catch. They don’t attack.
  17. I think they are talented. They aren’t developed and that’s starting to show. I remember watching these groups in junior high. They could play. Problem is they stayed the same and the other teams grew. Start looking at the athletes that grow from year to year and ask yourself what is the difference between them and others.
  18. Personally I like simple well executed offense and defenses at the high school level. The well executed being the main part. Which I agree comes down on coaching. I still don’t think our kids have been developed athletically and nothing will change my mind on that. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize Preston wasn’t able to be covered and throw it to him. Just frustrating football to watch.
  19. All spring I was told it’s Jimmie’s and joes that win high school games not Xs and Os. So did we get out athleted last night? The coaching and development of this team is a joke. The only player I’ve watched take a step in development the last few years is Young. The line got worse. Poor Zion gets triple teamed because everyone else is blockable. I haven’t really seen us dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides in weeks. The DBs are getting turned around. I’m starting to think the Xs and Os part of football is getting us in trouble.
  20. You can see the boys are starting to become frustrated and feel it’s like the last two years. I hope they don’t mail it in next week. They have to win the next three
