Saw Lane from a short distance recently at a game and hardly recognized him. He still likes eating what he wants and not working out. Enjoying life.

Yes , two broken legs in the NFL did a toll on him. I talked too him and he says he's still has pain from those injuries, and yeah he's over 300 now. He has a gym  south of Houston now, can't recall what town it was in.

As  I stated earlier his son is a 9th grader in Ft Worth and a standout AAU baseball player. Many schools have already start courting him, but he said he wants too keep the Aggie tradition.

People forget that Lane was our starting punter one year. And lead the district in average point yardage. Lane had some of the quickest feet you will see for big man. And was just as light on them. And could catch with the best of them. Dude was talented. I always felt he could’ve been a day 1 or 2 draft pick had he kept his weight in check at A&M.

Yes absolutely ,he was all of that. Lane would have been drafted  if he had been serious about his conditioning, he just did not like  working out and eating right. I seen him at the Wille Ross relays compete,in the big man 100m. There was a man from LV his som was in the race and was bragging on how his son was going to win. His son was about 6'2 250 and Lane that time was about 265. I told him too not count Lane out. Lane pick him off at the 70 m mark.

Now Lane's son is a standout 9th grade  baseball player and A&M has already offered him a full ride

I’m looking to the college level. Agree on high school. I feel moving forward Young has the higher ceiling. As an Aggie I’m a huge Lane fan but I feel Young has the better skill set in the long term.

I am not taking anything away from Young ,I wish him all the success  at ND , but you being a Aggie have to know what Lane did. The all time TD leader and Sherman did not let he start his senior year because of him weight..... Let's  compare in a few years their accomplishment's if the Lord  allows us

It’s Young hands down in my opinion. I watched both. Lane had things he was good at at the college level but he wasn’t a complete back. I’m not saying Young is going to set Notre Dames touchdown record but if I was building an offense Young is the back I’m picking

So what was it that Lane could not do? He could catch out of the backfield, he could play qb if had too "ie the Woodlands game" he had speed for a 260 pound  back, he could block ,and run right over you if need be.... The only thing that Young has on him is lateral quickness, which most of the time he did not need. Outlaw said he could play any position on the team..

Kedren Young is by far the best RB prospect to come out of Lufkin in my lifetime. I can go back to Denvis Manns so I can't comment on Eric Curl other then he was pretty good from my understanding. Kedren is a future NFL RB if he stays healthy. That's what those kind of kids look like in HS. I told Chad that Kedren was a better RB then Jorvorskie but Jorvorskie was a better football player if that makes sense. He is going to be a star at Notre Dame.

I still got to give Lane the nod, that guy put fear into teams. All time td leader at A&M. I was in the DFW area back during his time and after he was at A&M . When they knew I was from Lufkin, his name  and Dez were the first to come up.Kedren is a great back, but I don't think he will have the same impact at ND as Lane did at A&M

I remember hearing that. He wasn't looking to just camp out in Lufkin for the next 10-20 years. I think it's great when you have a great coach and he stays for the long haul. King has made his home in Longview and has kept that program competitive. But when you have a staff like ours that has done very little. It is hard to justify them still being in those positions. And this is not a knee jerk reaction by fans after a few seasons. We have been at this for over a DECADE now.

    At least a decade !!

    His turn here?????  Why????

Left out Holman coming through here, stayed 2-3 years, moved on to Tatum as HC and now he's back home as Jacksonville HC/AD. One note on Holman, he told Quick when he came here he was looking to move up to a HC position elsewhere if offered, and he did.

Absolutely not Green here, I would never attend another game

That was true I said the very same thing last season and got back lashed but now everyone see like ,59 Chevy wish we could see old thread from last season.when I started classification or talent. Green don't care he believes he is smarter than everyone else from my conversation with him and coach quick loyalty is putting him in a bad situation  enjoy reading the board probably the only good thing to me about football season.some great observation from members just wish it was something that someone could have done before we got to this point. Out of Hope 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Brother ,it's just like singing to the choir.  Year's ago I stated my disappointment in this staff and got  backlash. I became disgruntled  with Quick as a DC when Round Rock clean our clock running four or five plays over and over and he didn't adjust until the fourth quarter.

I agree we got the two hardest games off the schedule. Lufkin showed they're capable of playing with higher caliber teams like Forney even short handed but cannot  with the upper echelon of the elites like Longview and Aledo. Not sure anyone else in 5A is in that class. The rest of the schedule really is manageable. We will be 4-2 going into the pivotal McNorth game. That game will decide the season. Good thing is none of these teams left really play defense. We faired really well most of the night against one of the elite offenses in 5A. I'm not completely ready to throw the towel in yet.

Okay so what's going to change for them to achieve that goal ?? O-line going too play better, TJ going to make better decision, Green going change his play calling , Whats' going too change ,because if they keep doing the same things they will get the same results ! I'm not throwing in the towel just yet either, but it's in my hand

Hope y'all have a better experience than we did up at Lancaster.

They wouldn't let our freshmen squad use the locker rooms, told our boys to just get changed on the buses.

The lights there are as dark as you could possibly imagine. Not to mention how far you are from the actual field.

They refused to turn the score for us on during the game, despite the scoreboard actually working (worked during the freshmen game).

Refs were some of the worst I've seen in years. Finding any possible way to help Lancaster they could.

If y'all can get healthy, y'all have a chance to beat anyone left in district, including LT.

Lufkin has no chance of beating some of those teams left, we don't have the coaching abilities to achieve  that goal

I don't think he could have if we didn't help them as much as we did. When you have 3 Drives that start at the 27,17 and 5 you're asking to get blown out. I'm not saying they didn't have a lot to do with it but we had some opportunities to score and couldn't make the play. Next week will tell us even more because Forney isn't as good as Longview. Remember they beat those guys like a drum last season (46-7) too and will probably do it again. Longview is head and shoulders better then everyone in 5A outside of Aledo and honestly I think they're going to beat them and win state this year. Longview is beating the brakes off everyone not just us.

Aledo is a ball club not to be taken lightly, and coached very well...,I don't think LV passing game is as good as it use too be. We made LV look unbeatable.

  12. I made a comment that LV may not be as good this as some of their teams in the past. Well the defense looked awesome last night, but look at who they were playing. In the play offs teams will be a lot tougher than us and will slow Tatum down and have better offenses than us. I don't think the passing as good also but you have to admit,Lufkin made them look invincible last night.😟

Scores for the past three years against LV have been a combined 140+ to 12.  Lobos were best in class last year - this year?  Will they win district?  Probably - but I don't see a deep run with this group.  Regardless - we are a mediocre program that is not the same zip code as LV of late.  If we are not in the same district next alignment - let's drop the Lobos for Kilgore, or someone else where we don't embarrass ourselves.

I kind of with you on this one, I don't see  LV as strong as a few years ago.

Your QB coach is the same guy calling plays. Let me tell you something, our QBs, whoever they are are not allowed to come off the primary WR, even if they are triple covered. They will get in trouble for doing so. Run the play as called, he is not staring down WRs, he is throwing to the only WR he is allowed to throw.

Well that explains it, that I didn't know,

Drinking my coffee this morning, can't do a thing about last night, or next week or the next for that matter.  I probably should keep up with my phone better.

My buddy reminded me on the way home last night, it is what it is here and things will not get better until the people or those in charge want a change for the better.

Whatever it takes, cause  he said Lufkin football getting blanked like that, with the supposed talent we have this year points only one way.

That Lufkin has been decimated by Longview 41-5, 56-7 and now 42-0 consecutively indicates a deeper issue than player talent.

Well crap, we have 6 more games to go this season, where is this thing going again? What are we fans suppose to do or expect?

This is not just getting old, it's over ripe and getting seedy. Maybe the talent isn't what we believed, I don't believe that at all. Not one bit. Then why the huge separation between the Lufkin football program and Longview?

If it's not the kids or the talent, what's the issue? You guys will need to figure out that 139 to 12 points gap the last three years. It will come to you.

PA this is the same drum I been beating for the six or seven years, and almost everyone was defending the problem. Hoping with the change in administration maybe some other changes will happen in the future.

  16.  Just want to say that I never thought in my wildest dream I would see us shutout. This team was supposed to have  been a play-off group. We are going to face more teams that are good, maybe not as good as LV in district, so I'm not as excited about the season. Man that was a gut punch last night, because it shows how one dimensional we are on offense.  T J stares down his receivers ,linemen can't block etc. Do we have a qb coach and if so what is he during too help? As I said early good teams will stack the line and dare us too  throw. Young is a good back, but you just can't run the ball in 5A and expect too win every week. I,m so glad I decided not to go last night. I watched the streaming feed , until halftime. That was  embarrassing to the Lufkin Panther program.
