Abe Martin will again be a middle f the road stadium in the district although Stallworth Stadium in Baytown is older, they still have better fan access. Neither Stallworth or Galveston Ball stadium have a track around them. The Lufkin Admin keep talking talking talking about some type renovations, not to say there has not been a ton of nice things built and renovated all around the place the past couple of years. New state of the art PAC and Baseball/Softball Complex, brand new stadium ticket booths, new concrete driveways all around the stadium and new concrete parking lot by soccer stadium. However the stadium itself proper needs upgrades like new Press Box, concessions, dressing room and bathroom renovations which are exactly the same layout as they were built in 1973.  the turf is also in need of replacement and new LED lighting would save the district a ton of money in the future.  It's called forward thinking.   The same reason John Outlaw isims are still used all over the campus and sports programs.  That man was great for LHS sports, but he has also been passed away over 12 years ago now, it's time to move forward, not stay in that past.  That's where this district has remained in many respect. .

I know there are lots of other things to deal with right NOW, however maybe if those in charge had been more forward thinking, and took care of the financials properly, those stadium renovation could have happen closer to the same time the new PAC facility was built.

I will soon make a list of all the nice stadiums in 9-5A DI. Personally I'm embarrassed a fan to see other schools come here climbing those stands trying to find space to operate in the small outdated Lufkin press box.  The unnecessary dangers of people having to climb a ladder to get in to do their work. There is no way an ADA person has access to the press box to work. Over the years I've seen a few slip and fall, and get caught by fans below them. Unsafe for our fans too. No hand rails on those steep stadium steps, I have no problem currently, I'm a little older but for some folks it's an adventure like climbing Pike's peak to get up there with no hand rails. I've seen some serious falls over the years, and on a couple occasions the person falling had hit their head and had to be taken away in an ambulance. I never saw either of them in their seats again. Not sure what happen to them.

I am so glad to be in 9-5A DI  also know better stadiums don't help someone win, but it is nice to keep up with the times and give a good appearance. Other districts with less seems to have nice football stadiums. Went to Rusk last night to watch Lufkin play, Rusk ISD has a very nice sports complex for a small school. We are not a destitute town, there are people here who have money to help. We are also a strange city in many respects too when it comes to spending money to keep up our sports facilities updated. It took decades to finally pass a bond to consolidate everything on the Lufkin High campus, it's can be like trying to drive a nail in a steel plate. I know, I've lived here most of my life.

There is a great need for rails for those steps,

Surprised by this, yet he has had to share his time this year and that's not what may want. Great talent is always coming in to a program.

On another note, the NCAA need to get a handle on the transfer portal and NIL situation.  It may be too late now, they are now caught in the trap they made by their greed. it will ruin college football, if it's not too late already. NFL the same thing, by partnering with all of these gambling outlet sponsors. Too much money corrupts.

We have already seen guys like Ewers and Blue at Texas, there are others too, sit out their senior season in HS because of NIL. The whole game of football as we have know it has been changed forever.  It will now always be the schools with the most money and NIL sponsor money who win.  The smaller schools will have no chance to compete at all.

I totally agreed this transfer portal and NIL have started to ruin college football. I think should only allowed to transfer one time, but greed has taken over

Desoto coming to 5A is criminal. Might as well just give them the title for the next 2 years and save everybody’s time. Smh.

They got subs in and still trashing  Summer Creek. I thought I seen a lot of speed in that Timpson game ,but man Desoto  should be against law . There can't be many teams nation wide that could compete with how they are playing

Timpson is an amazing team. Saw them at ABE earlier in the playoffs.

Talented team, well coached too. They know how and where to play their talent. They have done the same the last 4 years.  I'm jealous cause we don't have the coaching here to do that.

Boy, if we had a Bussey type at QB. Well, the OC the same, NVM!

So you think A&M will play him at QB ? He has to be a part of the offense in some manor.

Aledo was even younger last year when they won it lol

Had sophomores and juniors all over the field and basically returned their entire team this year.

That's the thing...if you didn't get by Aledo last year...you weren't going to do it afterwards. We had them down 14-3 at half last year before we decided to go ultra conservative in the 2nd half. Just like the Lancaster game this year.

Aledo HC is in his 1st year as HC this year. Just goes to show that it doesn't matter how many years of coaching you have under your belt....you either got it or you don't.

Quick and yes, even Coach King at Longview can learn a lot from Aledo's HC on how to manage a roster.

Quick and King are veteran coaches that won't change much the way they do things. Both have been running the same type programs for years. King is just better at it than Quick

    Not really.

We tend to do better in the highest classification, for whatever reason.

5AD1 are the ones that'll have to deal with Aledo, HP, Desoto....good luck.

Well good luck with the like's of Duncanville's, Westlake's, Northshore's, Southlake's  etc's. You found out just how hard it is to win it all this. And had Longview winning it all this year

    He was.

Matter of fact, he caught a TD pass against Longview in the playoffs that year and was an important offensive player for ya that year even as a sophomore.

    2017 Lufkin had:

Bug Thompson, Jalynn Polk, Tre Odum, Isaiah Phillips, Malik Jackson, Jacourtney Calvin, Jeremiah Davis, Savon Fields, Hunter Hollis, Carl Williams, Braylon Garcia and Javasia Brunson.

    That's alot of college players.

So does anyone know how their college careers faired ? I know about Polk and Thompson

Man, PN I respect you like no other. Wish I could see things now through your perspective. 10-2 and 9-2 with two great players, doesn't resonate with me anymore. Any more than having a P5 Norte Dame running back for 3 years and zero playoffs. If next year's group falls short, then I'm walking away from this program until the proper changes are made, which in my case might be forever. I've been around long enough to see where we have been, and now where we are today. Just tired of hoping and having expectations that don't pan out.

Well I guess you had better get your gear together , because nothing is going too change at the top

Polk played at Texas Tech for one season in 2020, starting seven of 10 games, recording 28 receptions for 264 yards and two touchdowns. In 2021, he transferred to UW He played in only three games with two starts his first year at Washington due to injury and finished with five receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown. Polk spent 2022 as the team's third receiver. He finished the year with 41 receptions for 694 yards and six touchdown. Another great year in 2023 with Huskies.

I knew he played one season at Tech, so did only three games with Wash  that yr qualified him to a redshirt yr. ?
