I’m a lot worried. They aren’t returning any all district players. Hopefully they have developed a chip on their shoulders.
I think Kedren can mask a lot of the problems and the way they can use Gavin will help out. I think Gavin got a little Lane train in him. He is looking as lean as he's ever looked. I wish they would play him both ways or at least money downs on defense.

I am a little worried about the offensive line. The lost a pretty decent tackle in McMillan last season. They gotta get better against the blitz. Going to have a better idea tomorrow.

Some new names at corner . Last year corners played well at times!
They're really good. Also Campbell is another name at WR to watch for

I think the defensive front returned a lot of kids! I think secondary wise they lost some kids. Anyone know of any kids returning in secondary roles?
Kenneth Timmons and Evan Young are the corners and Menefee at FS are the for sure starters in the secondary. I really think they should use the Scott kid at the other FS spot. Hatton also a viable option.

So we starting to get a clearer picture on the lineup. Now that it appears the Gavin will play some form of H-back. I assume TJ will be starter at Qb, with JJ moving up to varsity as the backup. I'm fine with that, just need to get the Oline straight.
And the WR's will be Preston, Taylor, Murphy, Hooper. Nice little rotation. I expect 20/21 personel most of the season.

They're gonna be good this year just how good I'm not sure yet but I can promise you unless they have significant injuries they will be able to play with just about anyone in 5A. Weapons all over the place offensively. Just have to give the QB time to make the plays but he is more then capable. Defensively they go about 2 deep nearly across the board and Zion is going to wreck just about everyone's game plan in the middle.

I'll say this. I've been at every practice and watched the light scrimmage at the field on Friday. Lufkin is cooking with something. Gavin Phillips is leaned up and going to be a problem with Kedren coming out the back field. Gavin made a ridiculous 40 yard grab down field with Timmons all over him. I heard he will play some TE too. Hammond has looked really good. If he has time he can make some really good throws.

Crazy to see the speed difference from 5a to 6a. The Duncanville district meet 10.7 was 8th place. The top 3, 10.1, 10.25, 10.33, 4-7 all better. Lots of speed In that district.
5A FB Marshall 4x1 ran 39.80 nearly breaking the national record.

Not sure Kevo is one that I've been told little Hoop back mis track with foot injury think that's kevo problem too.not real sure Monroe the running back off JV not in spring yet hadn't heard anything about the younger Menifee kid can ball too.had injury freshman season sit out last season ought to be good too go
The younger Menefee I think will likely play JV. He was moved to LB. He has had some bad luck with injuries.

PurpleNation you have done your research l can tell you really know this group.. can't wait for the season .. kids seem to be motivated and in good spirits.just pray that noone gets into trouble or injuries.hopefuly we can see a Rico Rose sighting in spring solidify the o line..let's go pack
I got a pretty good pulse on what is going on. They think 9-1 is on the table and I do too. I saw Gavin a few days ago and he is looking really good.

I'm not aware of what's been going on around here lately? Fill me in on some of the particulars.
Just a lot of the gang violence. His kid was running with the wrong kids and they got shot at one night and one of his friends got hit in the arm. Another kid that is no longer in the program.

His size and weight.
He is the twin brother of Preston the WR believe it or not. They look nothing a like lol but he is a solid player that should find his way into the rotation. He has been injured.

He not really 6ft but he is a solid player that will add depth.

Personal issues

Now the Wallace kid was going to play varsity last season. Expect him back after this next season.

I’d say Hood, maybe the freshman set of brothers and if you think the freshman QB has a chance at starting over TJ I’d say him too
No 10th grader is going to play significant minutes next season.

Just looking at the schedule. You get Forney and McKinney North at Abe this year. Lufkin should win those games. Longview and Lancaster on the road will be tough. I think the floor is 7-3 and the ceiling is 9-1 for the regular season.

As long as Young is healthy the offense will be difficult to stop by any team outside Longview in this district. That being said a couple round run could be possible. I don’t think any first round match up can play with Lufkin.
I agree. Lufkin can get to the 2nd or 3rd round before I think they run into some trouble. I also don't think Longview is going to overwhelm them like last season.

Go on another forum page with this
At least wait until the season and see what they look like. It's April 😂.
But just to be clear I am on record that they will not only make the playoffs but they will finish 2nd behind Longview. They're for sure beating Forney and McKinney North. Lancaster could go either way but they should win it. They got a good team and I think people are going to be surprised on just how good they're gonna be.

I think they make the post season for sure. Easily.

It's a zero sum game trying to judge yourself in spring practice. Is the defensive line that good or is the offensive line not as good. I think run blocking they got something cooking but 2 inexperienced tackles is always a concern at any level but Kedren and Gavin can both pass block. Overall the offense is gonna be good. I think Green is onto something with how is going to use Gavin coming out the back field.
