  1. Zion is as good as any NT to come out of Lufkin. The defensive line is really good as a whole. Certainly an upgrade from the last few years.
  2. I think the defensive line has a lot to do with how the offensive line has looked. Zion is one of the best NT's in America. McClendon and Alexander are studs.
  3. What I'm saying is you don't just replace a kid with that many starts at QB and not have a drop off most of the time. I don't think King wants to play Tatum at QB if he can help it. The Longview defense should be better but offensively I don't see how they don't take a step back.
  4. I can't wait for the season to get here. They're going to be much better then people think. The optics will change after the Longview game win or lose. I expect Lufkin to be very competitive. Longview isn't replacing Jalen Hale or a 3 year starter at QB without any hiccups. If Tatum has to play QB that will be telling on it's own.
  5. He is going to play Wr at Grand Oaks. They have a kid with an A&M offer at QB in the 26 class. I think the dad wants to move him back at some point so he can play for Lufkin at least 1 year. We will see. He would be a huge addition.
  6. I'm sure all the Hurts are related somehow here lol Zion and Alexander both looked good. Lufkin will be able to win the LOS on defense this year
  7. Defense looked good for the quarter we saw. They're gonna be a solid unit this year. Preston made a couple of deep grabs.
  8. I have a freshmen that is at Cy Creek that tripled jumped a 45.5 this year 10 best jump nationally on milesplit for all freshmen. So now I try to follow that event lol.
  9. I think it's just going to be one big game but maybe they switched it up
  10. One thing that the defense did different last practice was move Zion to DE and Elijah Alexander to Nose. Alexander played offensive line last year. Both of these guys require a double team. They have a chance to be really good up front.
  11. I dunno I think he's invested in this season coming up. At least that's how it appears. I've watched every practice this spring and he's out there working with kids and not just the starters. I can tell they're really trying to coach them up this season.
  12. I don't think they're doing that at all. I believe they're getting the best players on the field.
  13. Yeah they could definitely use Preston at H back if they wanted to. I don't think you will see it though. I'm just glad we're utilizing that position. It puts more pressure on the defense because you can do more stuff with that guy there. Then with Gavin you can change personal without changing players. Lufkin game go from 20 to 11 personal without subbing. It's going to open the playbook up. As for other kids. I like the 10th grader Coleman in a role like that. He probably plays JV this year as the main back. I tell you kid I like I think they should look at is the Nichols kid at WR. He will be a JR next year and will probably play JV but he made some plays in the scrimmage last Wednesday. He has D1 size and length for the position. I think they really need to take a serious look at that kid.
  14. I believe Murphy (SR) and Coleman(Soph) would be the next up backs. Jayvion is the back up quarterback he will also be a 10th grader next year. I think anyone on the defensive 2 deep rotation will have an impact somehow.
  15. Can't get hear fast enough. Legacy and Nac will be good tune up games. Consolidated will present more of a problem but Lufkin should handle them and then we will really find out where we're at when we head to Longview. The schedule is set up nice for Lufkin this year. Key home district games. They can go anywhere from 7-3 to 9-1. Now if they beat Longview week 4 I might have to adjust my predictions lol.
  16. I think but can't remember specifically but the gap between us and Longview has closed drastically from a year ago.
  17. That's what I'm saying. I don't think it has anything to do with how they practice.
  18. Lancaster beat Forney 56-6 Last year. I honestly don't think Forney is as good as some people think. Lufkin should beat them next season.
  19. As for how I would rate Lufkin's spring practice. I'm not sure but they seem to be doing what we did and we finished 14-1. The do inside hull, and pass hull, team, individual circuit. A good mixture between half and full pad.
  20. I can't imagine Longview having a tougher off season workout or practice as to why they have been successful. I think it's important but they have just had more talent here recently. We can quantify that by looking at recruiting. Longview isn't going full pads blasting each other every day. That's just not smart. You don't have to do that and your gonna get kids hurt. King is a smart coach and they got good players.
