  1. Today was the day. My son said they got a good workout in. He said Gavin is looking lean and Young is still built like a tank.
  2. Has Longview settled in on a QB that you know of? Was Tutt the 7 on 7?
  3. I would like to see Lufkin use tempo more on offense. Put some pressure on the defense after a chunk play. I'm really intrigued on how they plan on using Gavin this year. He can be a real weapon from the H-Back. How creative can Coach Green get with Gav. He has a little Lane train in him and he was looking lean in the spring.
  4. I would need to see what the season looks like and how good the team is we play in the 1st round but I would certainly be disappointed if they can't manage to win a playoff game. I always felt this was this year before the year even though we lose Kedren. I think the defense is going to be one of the better units in Texas by 24. I think 3rd Rd this year would be successful in my eyes.
  5. I would be a little disappointed. I think they could be good enough to at least get to the 3rd round. I fully expect they will be able to play with Lancaster and Longview this year.
  6. We got to the 4th Rd when we had those guys in 2017 they had Polk,Malik,Jerrin,Tre,and Isiah. Then in 2012 they had some talent when they went 3rds they just didn't have a defense. I think this current group is gonna have a pretty good defense. The offense has some weapons. The QB has some experience. I think they going to be ok.
  7. If Nichols was a few inches taller he would have several D1 offers. He can play. Zion digging down and showing some dawg in him is the kind of fight I expect from the kids this year. When you have a kid with an Alabama offer and another kid committed to Notre Dame it will rnot only raise their level of play from a confidence perspective but the kids around them too.
  8. Definitely a tough job. I can live with most bad calls because if it works you look like a genius. But some calls or game management moments are definitely harder to get over.
  9. How about coach Cullumn throwing up 16 with like 9 minutes left in the 4th vs SLC in 2002. Lane had like 9 carries for a 100 yards. That game probably eats me up more than any other game as far as coaching or play calling.
  10. I think he is 100% a bonafide legitimate future D1 kid. It may not be at QB but he has all the measurements and athleticism recruiters look for.
  11. Ultimately this is hard to disagree with. You really need that guy at QB in today's game. He may not need to be a D1 QB but he needs to be really good.
  12. I imagine the same thing if Georgia switched with Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt would likely at the minimum make the playoffs and probably win it. I imagine that's what it would look like if Lufkin and Longview switched in this hypothetical. Im absolutely on it's about the Jimmy's and Joe's at the end of the day.
  13. This !!! The floor is so much higher then 20 years ago. The metroplex schools just have so many kids to choose from. Kids and parents teaming up and sending kids to certain schools.
  14. We were a fumble at the 1 from going up 24 points on McKinney North. I don't think this game will be close next season. Lufkin (Kedren) should run them outta Abe. I think Forney is a better game but if Lufkin doesn't turn the ball over they gonna whip them too.
  15. That's it at the moment. I suspect there will be few more in the 25 and 26 class when it's all said and done. Funny how I said this was the most talented team Lufkin has had in a few years and now we have a DT with a Bama offer. I'm not just pulling this out my . Zion is a game plan wrecker. Can't wait.
  16. He has a chance to be the best interior defensive lineman in Lufkin history. He is an absolute play wrecker in the middle and hasn't even scratched the surface.
  17. Definitely something to consider if the play on the field is even through the first couple of games.
  18. Oh yeah he is in an entirely different stratosphere as far as athlete compared to QB1. I don't know if I would start him right off the jump but I would definitely give him a series here and there and get him use to the speed of the game. Then maybe put more on his plate as the season progresses if he shows he can handle it but also depends on how good QB1 plays. It's possible he has a good season. He has played a lot of games at QB and I think experience has to account for something. The game should really slow down for him this year.
  19. He has all the physical tools you look for in a D1 QB. He needs to keep working his mechanics to develop into a legitimate D1 QB prospect. He has a pretty good read option game.
  20. We would had rolled through Lufkin schedule last year including Longview if we was out there 😂. I don't care who is calling the plays. Give #7 the ball or lob it up to Dez. People also forget how good McKinner Dixon really was. Then Leonard Hewitt. Come on.
  21. Yeah but just the dynamic it would add to have the threat. Defenses would have to game plan a little different. A mobile QB is almost essential in today's game. I think we see both QBs this year for sure. I think they're gonna be ok as long as they can stay healthy at key spots. The defense is gonna be good but they're a year away from being an elite unit to where I think they will overwhelm teams and keep you in games no matter what. I'm genuinely excited for the season. I think Lufkin is going to be much better then what people think.
