Lufkin baseball combine for 3 hits and 15 walks tonight for a 9-1 win down in Dayton. The Pack remaining in 1st place in District in 16-5A with a 11-1 record and a 3 game lead over 2nd place Kingwood Park. Lufkin is now 19-6 on the year. Next game is this Friday night, again with Dayton with a chance to secure the district title with a win.

15 walks? I didn't listen to the game because I knew this one would get bad but my goodness

Lufkin baseball drop their first district game in 16-5A tonight down in Porter, a 13-9 Final. The Pack remain in first place with a 10-1 record and 18-6 on the year.

They have a two game lead over Kingwood with 4 district games to play, two with Kingwood.

Errors absolutely killed Lufkin tonight. You can't give up an 8 run inning and expect to beat anyone. Lufkin will be fine. They won't make that many errors again all season.

Good, I had figured that to be home game for Lufkin. As far as I know the schedule is still missing a Week #3 game.  So that's Longview and Nacogdoches at home the first two weeks, maybe an off week, then to Tyler High in Week #4.

I'd be disappointed if they end up having a off week. Just get some Mexico team if you have to. I know for a fact they can get a list of teams nationally to come play if they really wanted to.

  4. Longview has officially listed Lufkin as an away game. Can't think of a better way to start the season than Longview vs Lufkin. Although all of the Longview fans are tossing this up as a warm up game and I get it. Longview has absolutely owned us the last decade but at Abe with a ton of starters returning from a team loaded with D1 kids. It's going to be interesting come August 30 and I fully expect Lufkin to beat Longview. It's going to get labeled an upset and it shouldn't.

  5. Lufkin has won 12 straight and 15-1 in the last 16 games with the lone loss coming to one of the best teams in Texas by 1 run. I've done a deep dive into Lufkin's schedule and all the loses have been to good teams. This is a really good team. Wonder how they compare to the team we had 2 years ago. Maybe someone that knows can break it down for me.

Still do not have a week three game on the  Panther 2024 schedule, however I'm told that there are still opportunities out there.  Do not know where that would be, however not everyone has completed their schedules.

No guess from this side, Longview, Tyler and Nacogdoches are going to be good games. Yes, Nacogdoches, because Darby House is a great coach and will make Nacogdoches a playoff team in 5A DII.  Tyler will be greatly improved.

This schedule will be a hugh test, did I mention Longview? Probably didn't need to because we always play them. The Lobos have disected Lufkin pretty well the last 3 or 4 meetings,  Quick just can't beat them or does he just not have the players?, anyway it's been pretty much non competitive since 2017.

Tick Tick Tick, we wait.   Spring football begins in a little over 3 weeks, so we will have more to see and talk about.

Hearing Louisiana and Mexico are options. Longview is likely a home game and Louisiana would be an away game

Greg Tepper and Matt Stepp nerd out on the Texas high school football offseason in this Insiders-only podcast, discussing coaching changes, UIL realignment appeals, and controversy around alleged recruiting.

    Any mention of Lufkin?

That Kaden Dixon from Center is the nephew of McKinner Dixon. His dad also graduated from Lufkin but not sure if he played football. He is going to Northern Arizona I believe

A little off topic but still track. My son that's a sophomore at Cy Falls just broke the school record in the triple jump with 46-8. That currently ranks him 94th nationally in all classes.

Unfortunately there are still false narratives about the players here. Of course we have few knuckle heads. But that goes for most programs. I know a lot of the players that come up here. The vast majority have been high quality kids under Quick. Menefee, Kedren, Zion, are all great kids. Along with many others that played this year. Bug Thompson, Breylan Garcia, Big Carl, Jaylon Polk were also great kids. Those guys handled their business in and outside the room. It's one of the things that is so frustrating to watch. We have had some of the most coachable kids you could ask for. Yet we have little to show for it.

I agree. Most of the kids do the right thing. They usually have most of the bad apples out the way by the time varsity hits. I known this 25 class lost a few studs to the street life. Lost a kid that would have been a really good QB.

How sad, once the greatest,or #1 city in the USA for high   school football. How far we have slipped, blame it on whatever,no discipline is a big factor. No consequences for your actions anymore.Do as you want, dont worry about the princpals, teachers or the school board. If we hire,as yall know we have a Coach already,......the story continues

Coach Quick kicked one of his best players off the team a few years ago. I don't think they have a discipline problem. Kids have been punished and kicked off the team under Quick. Id blame the parents before I blame the coaches or school officials.
