  5. I agree. Reggie McNeal was the last freshman who played any significant minutes under the Outlaw or Quick coaching regime.
  6. I don't know much, but I would think the QB position will be TJ Hammond's to start the year. That freshman would have to be an exceptional talent for Quick to ever start him over TJ. T J hasn't done anything to indicate he can't get the job done. I just want to see how it all comes together in August, that's all I care about.
  7. Tough district layout again. Not sure how to rate teams outside of Longview and Tyler. Forney was young last year. Lancaster surprised me, but tough games at Lancaster and Longview. How would you rate NM and WM. New coach at Tyler? Will Longview be better than last season? I don't like to guess possible records, I'm hardly right. Last season I thought 7-3, we were better than the 6-4 record, team just could not finish well in a couple games. Who are some of the underclassmen from the 2022 JV or Freshman teams to watch for on Varsity?
  8. Your New LHS 800m record holder- Grant Ashby. Ashby ran a 1:54.73 eclipsing the 800m record of 1:55.22 set 17 years ago. Congrats Grant!
  9. 🤕😵😵‍💫😳 Too much talent to do that this season. We have been waiting for this group a couple years now.
  10. BOYS TRACK DISTRICT CHAMPS The Lufkin Panthers and Lady Panthers both had strong performances in the District 16-5A track meet, including wins in both 4x400 relays at the end. The boys won several races down the stretch to clinch the overall district championship. #CelebrateLufkinISD (Photo by ANDY ADAMS/Lufkin ISD)
  11. Zion williams 6‘4“ 317 is a Premier DT from Lufkin, TX. Super impressive 2025 prospect. Will be a national recruit. 4*+ with exceptional movement skills, good get off and superior strength. Dominates the middle of the line. Shows all American talent.
  12. Well, that's when they put the pads on for practice. These guys have already been going through drills for weeks now. The coaches already know what they have and what they want in the fall. Spring practice is just for getting in reps and competing for whatever spots are considered still up for grabs. My main interest is the O-Line and want to see how T J looks with the OL and WR. IMO our offensive success in 2023 depends on the OL play.
  13. We are about 3 weeks away from Panther Spring practice. ONE key to Lufkin's success this year and next, will be QB play. We know we have T J Hammond starting. There will be other possibilities for backups this year and next too. Where does Gavin Phillips end up?? On the DL? Lufkin Freshman QB was decent last year. Someone mentioned the Freshman will have a top quality QB coming in. Maybe someone could elaborate on this a bit.
  14. On the Lufkin OL, these are the guys that look to be returning. These will be the Seniors, Daniel Torres, Hayden Futch, Peyton Havard, Blake Buchanan, Christian Rodriquez, Jaxen Lewis, Randy McKelvey, Rico Rose and Jordan Nicholes (starter). The Juniors will be Geo Villegas (starter) and Elijah Alexander. That's 11 - O-linemen that return for 2023. That does not count who moves up from the JV or Freshmen teams from last year. Certainly seems like the right quantity of players needed to put together a quality 5 or 6 man OL for 2023. Anyone have any ideas for who that might be??
  15. I'm looking see who might be an up and coming impact player for the Panthers this year. Someone we may not have really seen play too much to this point. I know for myself, I'm looking forward to the continued growth and impact Zion Williams will have on the D line with Brendon Baker, Cooper Conrad and Jordan McClendon. Feel like Conrad could be a good MLB too. On the offense, really want to see Kevo Taylor, Keandre Hooper and Kriesan Preston get a chance to show out this year. Bradyn Murphy and A Marion Campbell return too, just saying this could be a dynamic WR group. Who are schedule to be in the Pack backfield with Kedren Young? Bacquari Murphy and who else??
  16. Lufkin boys did defeat Longview in the Lobo Relays a couple weeks ago. LOBO RELAY FINAL STANDINGS Varsity Boys 1. Marshall 105 2. Hallsville 93.5 3. Lufkin 92 4. Longview 91 5. Tyler Legacy 69.5 6. Mount Pleasant 68 7. Nacogdoches 31 8. Kilgore 29 9. Pine Tree 28 10. Harmony 10
