LP playing in a district this year with some top projected teams reminds me of the old 12-5A days when your 3rd or 4th place teams would win most other districts.

Would be a great race at the state meet if they could race. Duncanville ran a 40.61 3 weeks ago at the Texas relays without their fastest person. IMG had the number 1 time in the nation and beat them with a 40.11

FB now had the fastest time. Last year Ville won state with a  39.98 5-A Manor ran a 40.52

Overall 100 last year Thompson from a 3a school ran a 10.24 would have finished 3rd overall in all classifications. Found that interesting. Besides 1A. The track times are close for the most part.  The 1A champ had a 10.95.

Crazy to see the speed difference from 5a to 6a. The Duncanville district meet 10.7 was 8th place.  The top 3, 10.1, 10.25, 10.33, 4-7 all better. Lots of speed In that district. 

Wow North Shore Coach Surprise move to be  LB coach at Rice. I know he has nothing  left to prove there anymore just surprised it’s Rice though not UH or another big time school. 

Kay’s departure brings an end to one of the most successful runs of a head coach in the Houston area. He posted an incredible 117-18 record in nine seasons, includiing state championships in 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2021. 

Yes my grandfather got mad even if he heard the name carter they also had Jessie armstead carter did. Was TJ turner on the 88 team? That Lufkin teams was good that's for sure

Well can't speak on the former coach I was a kid and heck my brother was not even born yet so don't know how he would know lol. But any way he did finish with a 49-29-7 record while at Lufkin from 84-91 I think 2 playoffs team and the 88 team was one of the best ever and I was at the 88 game with my grandfather when Carter beat the Pack and if it was not for that buzz saw of a cheating team who knows what may have happen that year? Can't speak on what he did or did not do but that's. It a bad record and I do believe at that time only 1 team made the playoffs?

Thanks PA for the History great to read. I know Ken Houston played for Dunbar and he is in the NFL hall of fame. I went to Dunbar then Junior High East so it was cool going to the school and in the Gym seeing the Tropheys from when they played. Great History lesson you helped teach us. Coach Mathis talked about it also and Coach Simmons.

He was a great man and will be missed. I have all the faith in the world in Coach Quick he will get the job done he learned from one of the best for the last 26 years. I also just found out about Coach O'quinn just sad news all around I can remember him yelling at me in the huddle so many times.

Agree. I know a few people on here are going to jump on me for typing it, but I think Coach also deserves to have a statue or something like that at Abe or at the practice facility.

I agree with Pack Strong I would vote for ABE Martin Stadium at John Outlaw Field and write the John Outlaw Field on the Field like how OSU has Coach Eddie Sutton Court on it's B-ball floor.
