Players to watch: OL Samuel Aguilar (6-5, 275), QB Demetris Ballard (6-1, 175), LB Emanuel Rose (6-1, 190), LB/DL Chris Watts (6-1, 220), DB Brendan Gaines (6-0, 165), DL Rayshon Hawkins (6-3, 205). 2023 notes: The Wranglers started strong a year ago, winning three in a row and scoring at least half a hundred in two of those victories. But, the bottom fell out once district play started, especially on offense, and the team scored no more than 22 points in any game the rest of the way – including two shutouts. Players like the physical and athletic Aguilar and “motor” player Watts are back to help turn things around. Ballard has been the team’s QB in waiting after starting at safety as a sophomore, and the rangy Rose will pair nicely with Hawkins for some pressure on the defensive front. Gaines has good size and great instincts in the secondary. PackAttack Posted October 25, 2023 Author Report Share Posted October 25, 2023 My thinking is that if Lufkin does not run away with this game and win by a big score like 55-0 or something similar, they won't have a snowballs chance to beat Lancaster. About the only thing that will happen this Friday is Kedren Young will become the all time career rushing leader for the Lufkin Panthers, without playing in a single playoff game. That is just sad to me, for a guy to have a record and never have any success in any playoffs. Same thing with Jordan Moore and his all time passing yardage record, no one will hardy remember him, cause he had an 0-1 playoff record, a 41-5 loss to Longview.
