Something tells me you guys wanted the one in Temple 😂. They're 1-4 right now without him and Taurean York who just got SEC freshmen of the week for leading the Aggies in tackles. I think there has been more former players with kids that played but just not the big time star kids. Trey Crain son played last year but he wasn't a D1 kid. I'm sure they're a few more. Quinn Holeman son was a DE last year but once again he wasn't a D1 kid.

Was York that dominant in high school at Temple ?  I think it’s just amazing how he has stepped into a starter role at linebacker at a SEC School.

I think the offense needs to figure something out. If they can't eat up clock and sustain drives the defense can only do so much. Longview had 350 yards rushing in 2022. Last night I think they finished with 186 on 38 carries or something close to that. That's a drastic improvement where we couldn't stop the run at all against them a year ago. Longview had 330 yards of total offense last night. I think Lufkin finished with 220 yards(That's the problem) 100 yards difference shouldn't be a 42 point gap. That tells me we have up short fields and turned the ball over. They had 3 scoring drives that went 27,17 and 7 yards. Defense can't do anything about that against a team like Longview. Offensively we just didn't look prepared. We had some plays where the WRs got open and we just couldn't get them the ball. Like I said who else in 5A has a defense that dominant? Absolutely no one. I don't think Forney is remotely as good as Longview on defense. Offensively they're going to cause some problems in the passing game that we will have to be ready for.

King could have easily scored 70 last night.   If Forney has the chance to run up the score, I would expect 70 there too

There has been some talk here about declining enrollment in the Lufkin ISD. We'll, it's not just a Lufkin thing, it's a State of Texas thing right now. Plus the State funding is still going to remain strong and may increase in coming years. Good article.

Believe it or not but Lufkin has $ problems from  decreasing enrollment.  Even that article says districts with low income students are at a disadvantage when losing numbers.  Big cuts are coming but probably not in the higher paying jobs but in the lower paying aid type jobs where students are actually getting help.

However, as I mentioned before, we are very good for the reasons I've stated. If we have any questions, it would be how well the QB position is managed this year. I see no other areas that will not perform well as expected.

This is just one example of purple kool aid.   My opinion is it’s too early to say how good we are.  Our OL was pretty roughed up by a decent sized 3 man front but those guys weren’t huge.  Young had a few big runs due to his talent but those 3 guys also did good at containing him.  QB had some big tds but that receiver was wide open too.  Again due to talent of wr or lack of defensive secondary?

I trust your instinct. I know you’ve seen much more panther football than any of us here have lol. Certainly me. I haven’t even been to an in-person game since 2019. My Instinct tells me I’m going to be highly disappointed with how all of this turns out. That’s the ptsd kicking in 🤣

This , lots of purple kool-aid here lately.   Hopefully we get better each game but TL was terrible.

  6. That guy made a few thousand, wasn’t anywhere near 50k.  School definitely has a budget problem but it’s going to be hard to balance unless the state comes through with big $s.  Lufkin has lost big numbers of students and losing those $s cannot be replaced.  It would be interesting to know how many uncertified teachers are in the classroom this year, the number is high. Hopefully the board brings someone from the outside to straighten this mess out.

A Re-Birth has occurred. Gentlemen, The Lufkin Sideliners Booster Club will return this season. After a hiatus brought on by the 2020 COVID pandemic, Coach Quick has expressed his desire to have the Boosters get back together again. Please get the word out, first meeting with Coach will be Monday August 28 at 5:30 in the Elmer G. Redd Athletic Complex. Everyone is invited to come to the meeting.

That means anyone reading this post.

That’s so funny.  School takes over booster club, hurting feelings and saying  club wasn’t needed.  Now after being gone a few years, they are realizing what you guys did for them and need you to resume those tasks and you now want to run back?
