I understand what you guys are saying. But that game will be much later in the year if it materializes at all. Still a ton a football left to play and several good teams out there to get past. Longview is Longview and will do Longview things..lol. I don't think they are worried about Aledo or vice versa. Both are light years ahead of Lufkin. We need to figure out way to make the playoffs and hope we can hit a hot streak.

I think our must win game will be against McKinney North in a couple weeks. I can't put too much faith in us winning next week against Forney because from what I've seen from film, they might win district. And I think even with their struggles so far this year, it'll be tough to beat Lancaster at their house. So it boils down to if we can beat McKinney North to have a shot at being the 4th and final team in the playoffs.

I don’t know if we can rush for over 200 yards on the lobos . So we better have some balance of run and pass .

I think the game will be decided in the trenches. Longview has had a decisive advantage in the trenches over the past 5 seasons, and I'd say 2017 was the last time we were even with them. If you go position by position, I think we have a better QB, better WRs, and even as far as every other position other than the offensive line, where they have been much better than us these first 3 games. If we can contain Tatum and put them in some 3rd and long's, that'll give us our best chance. But the game will be decided with our offense and specifically our offensive line. If we can win at the line of scrimmage, on both passing and running plays, we'll give ourselves the best chance to pull the upset.

They don’t bother me that much. While always talented and loaded with speed, that’s one of the most undisciplined teams in the entire state year after year. They would make enough mistakes to give us a chance. You know what happens when you let a lesser team that has talent hang around.

i agree, but id still rather us get that 3 seed at least and face Barber's Hill.

LP has to have solid High level D1 type of QB play to make it far in the playoffs. Young can only do so much. Pretty much the way football is these days it starts with the QB unless you have a defense like the Baltimore Ravens had.  It does sound like we have solid options hopefully they get developed and do big things.

I think Johnson could be that guy, if they develop him well and put him in position to succeed with his specific skill set.

If we want to look at where the flaw is in the Lufkin system. Let’s ask? If Longview and Lufkin swapped teams last year. Would the results have been different?

I think Lufkin's roster with Longview's system and coaches would've went 8-2, and made it to the second round. Longview's roster with Lufkin's system and coaches would've went 6-4 and bounced the first round.

I don't know much, but I would think the QB position will be TJ Hammond's to start the year. That freshman would have to be an exceptional talent for Quick to ever start him over TJ.  T J hasn't done anything to indicate he can't get the job done.

I just want to see how it all comes together in August, that's all I care about.

I think the QB position will be predicated on the oline and wrs. If we have a dominant run blocking oline, and at least 1 reliable wideout, than TJ should be able to step in and be a solid game manager. Complete 3rd and shorts, complete deep shots when the safeties creep into the box, and don't turn the ball over. But if we have a poor oline like we have had the past couple years, then we might have to go with a more athletic QB that can make plays with his legs and run a short passing game like a RPO Style.
