Never have been in Region III, good move for the program. I am certain the other sports will remain in Region II 10-5A.  This will be interesting even if it's for only 2 years.  No easier road as far as competition, still have two very good programs in  PAM and Barbers Hill to deal with now.  We still have Longview in non district and an improved Nacogdoches program.  Will be interesting to see who we play the other two games in non-district.

Eh the district is by far easier due to the fact it’s only 2 good teams when the last district had 4 teams you could call good

2 years ago that SR class just wasn't very good and last year outside of Kedren that SR class didn't offer much. This 25 class is by far the best we've had in a while. They already have 4 kids with D1 offers and another 2-3 that will likely get some D1 offers not including any kids from the 26 class. They will have somewhere between 16-17 starters coming back with a bunch of SRs.  Also Lufkin was in a brutal district. I don't think they were nearly as bad as the record indicated last year. Pushed Forney and Lancaster to the wire and they both went 4 and 5 rounds deep. I get the hesitation but I expect them to kick the door wide open this season no matter what district they put us in. Region 3 would be more advantageous but they will be able to compete with anyone in Region 2. This was always the year for me. The concern is the offensive line. I'm not worried about Johnson. He is going to make some plays with his feet that we haven't seen in a very long time. They're putting in work every weekend outside of school. As freshman they dominated like no other freshmen team in recent memory. I fully expect we will see that translate in the fall.

The last senior class had 3/5 starters on the offensive line, 600 yard receiver, 2  starters in the rb group (One being Kedren Young ) and a experienced qb this is not even mentioning the 2 top 5 seniors in tackles on the defensive end. I think saying they didn’t offer much is underrating the last class. I do think the team should win games but the last 2 teams also should’ve won more games

The defense is going to be much better they return 9 kids and did a pretty decent job against Lancaster without Menefee. We will definitely be fine at WR the 2 best ones are coming back. Kedren they won't be able to replace but I think it's a good thing we will get back to throwing the ball around. They will clearly be a better team next season without question.

I don’t think you can say it was 2 better WRs than Murphy this last season. Potentially could be but off production he was the #1 with Preston at #2 we also have to talk about the Offensive line because it wasn’t the best and we still gotta replace 3 guys but I hope they’re better but you never know with how things been turning out

So what was it that Lane could not do? He could catch out of the backfield, he could play qb if had too "ie the Woodlands game" he had speed for a 260 pound  back, he could block ,and run right over you if need be.... The only thing that Young has on him is lateral quickness, which most of the time he did not need. Outlaw said he could play any position on the team..

Young could very well play QB and would’ve been a D1 linebacker if he stayed on that route, Young also has speed, footwork etc on him

You can't be a passive nice guy playing OL.  You have got to have a dominating mindset over the guy in front of you, cause that's what they are intending to do to you as a a D lineman. Our center and left guard had a lot of issues last year. One graduated, the other was a sophomore. A year of experience should pay off.  Football is not a sport for passive people, it's very physical and tough, if the toughness is not there to excel at your best, then maybe football is not the sport for you to play.  Then again, maybe the way the game is played has changed, and I'm out of touch with the newer perspectives of how this game is played today.

It was the right guard Nichols was the left

Tough district layout again. Not sure how to rate teams outside of Longview and Tyler. Forney was young last year. Lancaster surprised me, but tough games at Lancaster and Longview.  How would you rate NM and WM. New coach at Tyler?  Will Longview be better than last season?

I don't like to guess possible records, I'm hardly right. Last season I thought 7-3, we were better than the 6-4 record, team just could not finish well in a couple games.

Who are some of the underclassmen from the  2022 JV or Freshman teams to watch for on Varsity?

I’d say Hood, maybe the freshman set of brothers and if you think the freshman QB has a chance at starting over TJ I’d say him too

It’s got tons to do with it. When have they ever been anything athletically? They haven’t. They are building it. Do go sub 42 it means most likely they have 4 guys sub 11. Do we have one? More often than not fast track teams precede good football teams. FB Marshall was the same way a couple of years ago. You are defending saying it’s not that fast. We are slow in track. Our powerlifting team hosted two meets. Lost to Huntington in one and Central in the other. So we haven’t had a good showing of athletic strength or speed this spring. But you still argue with me kids are being developed.

Our powerlifting team had 2 guys go to state.
