Lettermen R/L: 25/26. Starters returning O/D: 4/8. 2023: 5-5/2-5 district. Key losses: Kedren Young (Notre Dame). Players to watch: DL Zion Williams (6-4, 315), DB Evan Young (6-2, 195), 4.6), LB Kaden Hooper (6-2, 225, 4.7), WR Krisean Preston (6-4, 185, 4.5), DT Elijah Alexander (6-3, 300), RB Gavin Phillips (6-3, 240), DB Kenneth Timmons, K Nolan Hansard (5-10, 175, 4.7), WR/QB Quincy Coutee (6-0, 175,4.6), WR KeVondrick Taylor (5-10, 175, 4.5), WR Keandre Hooper (5-9, 170, 4.5), DE/LB Kaleb Preston ( 6-3, 220, 4.6), S Evan Young (6-2, 190, 4.6), LB Juan Laura ( 6-1, 215, 4.7), Top Juniors: QB Javion Johnson (6-1, 180, 4.5), LB Desmond Hood (6-3, 220, 4.6), DB Keshawn Waters (5-11, 170, 4.5). RB Gavin Phillips (6-3, 240), DB Kenneth Timmons. 2024 notes: The Panthers move south after a realignment appeal into a more Houston-centric district and with a talented young core, Quick is hoping a change of scenery and a veteran defense will bring about a return to the playoffs. DL Williams (37 tackles, 5 TFL, 3 sacks) and DT Alexander (29 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack) will be a handful for any offensive line to handle and that should free up hard-hitting LB Hooper (106 tackles) to use his athleticism to make plays. WR Preston (28-515, 7 TDs receiving) is the lone skill player on the offensive side of the ball with significant experience returning. Another concern for the offense is youth along the offensive line. Quick believes that if his young offense can mature, there’s a good chance that his team can contend for a district title. 2024 Longview Lobos - Coach: John King. Letterman R/L:30/35. Starters Returning O/D: 5/4. 2023: 11-2 5A DI Region Semifinalist/ 7-0 district. No sir, that has not been made available as it has been in the past. Probably going have to donate $5 to Lufkin Football Mother's Club for a program. It's for a very good cause. PackAttack
https://lufkindailynews.com/sports/panthers-lose-close-one-to-lobos-7-3/article_d24f3a9f-118d-5829-8716-ed957324368a.html A fumble on a carry by Longview’s Kelvin Washington should have ended the first half, but it didn’t. The Lobo running back mishandled a handoff from QB Maverick Rowe and was able to scoop up the ball off the turf and elude Lufkin defenders to go 48 yards for the game’s only touchdown here Friday night at Abe Martin Stadium. The touchdown was enough for the Lobos to escape with a 7-3 win over the Panthers in the season opener for both teams.
