2023 Lufkin Panther BOYS and GIRLS Soccer

A little late getting this posted.  Trying to slowly get back to normal.

Lufkin 2023 Soccer season is well underway with 3 or 4 games already played by both the Panther Boys and Lady Pack Girls teams.

Here are the Soccer schedules posted for the Varsity and JV teams for 2023.

Ricky Reyes scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Lufkin Panthers finished the Kilt Cup in impressive fashion with a 5-0 win over St. Louis Catholic in The Woodlands Saturday morning.

Lufkin 1-1 wlll compete in the Longview tournament starting Thursday.

 The Lufkin Lady Panthers ended the Kilgore tournament with a 5-1 loss to Hallsville on Saturday morning.

Natalie Salinas scored the first goal of the season for the Lady Panthers.

Hallsville scored first before Salinas tied it up in the first half.

However, the Lady Bobcats opened things up with four goals after the break.

Lufkin (0-3-0) plays in the Pine Tree Lady Pirate Showcase starting Thursday.

The Lufkin Panthers picked up their fourth win in five games while the Lady Panthers settled for a tie in soccer tournament action on Friday.

On the boys side, Lufkin took a 2-1 win over Chapel Hill on the second day of the Longview tournament.

The win came a day after the Panthers won a 5-0 decision over Hallsville.

Emmanuel Orta scored a goal on a free kick and Ricky Reyes added a score on a penalty kick.

 

The Panthers (4-1-0) finish the Longview tournament at 11:30 a.m. today against Forney.

Meanwhile, in the second game of the Pine Tree tournament, the Lady Panthers raced out to a 2-0 lead before settling for a 2-2 draw in a rematch of last year’s playoff game against Pine Tree.

Rachel Bonnin scored both goals to help the Lady Panthers to a 2-0 lead.

Lufkin (1-3-1) closes out the Pine Tree tournament at 10 this morning against Wylie East.

Panthers boys Soccer closed the Longview tournament last Saturday with a narrow 3-2 loss to Forney.
Lufkin (4-2-0) will play in the Highway 90 Classic starting Thursday in Dayton.

Rachel Bonnin scored five goals, sophomore Isabel Franco recorded a hat trick and the Lufkin Lady Panthers steamrolled the Marshall Lady Mavericks 12-0 in non-district soccer action at Jase Magers Soccer Field Tuesday night.
Lufkin (2-4-1) returns to the field on Thursday when it travels to Longview for the Lady Lobo Invitational.

Rachel Bonnin scored her ninth goal in two games as the Lufkin Lady Panthers (4-4-1) rocked Spring Hill 7-1. Two days after scoring five goals in the home opener, Bonnin added four more goals in the opening game of the Longview tournament. The Lady Panthers eventually soared to a 7-1 win over Spring Hill. The girls added a 2-0 win over Longview on Friday. Lufkin has outscored its last three opponents 21-1.

The Lady Panthers will continued the Longview tournament on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Panthers BOYS soccer (5-2-1) continued their strong early season play with a 3-0 win over Hardin-Jefferson on Thursday the opening day of the Highway 90 Classic in Dayton. The Pack also played to a 0-0 tie with Rosenburg Terry on Friday

The Lufkin Lady Panthers had a 2-0 shutout win over Class 6A Fossil Ridge Saturday on the final day of the Longview tournament.
Lady Panthers extended their winning streak to four games, allowing one goal in those four victories. Rachel Bonnin scored both goals for the Lady Panthers. She has scored 13 goals in the last four games.
 
Lufkin (5-4-1) opens district play on Jan. 31 when it travels to Huntsville.

The Lufkin Panthers closed the Highway 90 Classic in Dayton with a 2-0 setback against Crosby on Saturday morning.
The Panthers (5-3-1) will have the week off before opening district at home on Jan. 31.

The Lufkin Panthers picked up a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Huntsville Hornets on a frigid night in the District 16-5A opener Tuesday.

Jessy Bonilla scored the first goal off an assist from Junior Lopez.

Huntsville tied the game after that score.

 

The second goal came when Daniel Rivera assisted on a score from Angel Lopez.

Lufkin returns to action at 7:30 Friday night when it plays at New Caney Porter.

The Lufkin Lady Panthers got another big night from their defense along with a multiple-goal game from Rachel Bonnin as they picked up a 4-1 win over the Huntsville Lady Hornets in the District 16-5A opener on the road Tuesday night. Bonnin has scored 15 goals in the last 5 games.

The Lady Panthers will host New Caney Porter on Friday night.

Lady Pack soccer notch another win tonight over New Caney Porter 4-1. Porter and Lufkin came into tonight's match the 2 top scorings team in District 16-5A. The Lady Pack defense had another outstanding night shutting down Porter paired with Freshman Olivia Loyola's Hat Trick and a Rachel Bonnin goal late to move to 7-4-1 and 2-0 in District.

The Lufkin Panthers boys soccer battled to a scoreless draw on the road against the Huntsville Hornets in District 16-5A action Friday night.
The Panthers (9-4-2 and 4-1-1) host New Caney Porter at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
 
 
Rachel Bonnin recorded scored four goals and the Lufkin Lady Panthers soccer defense stifled the Huntsville Lady Hornets throughout the night on the way to a 5-0 win in District 16-5A soccer action at Jase Magers Soccer Field Friday night.
Lufkin (9-5-2 and 4-1-1) plays at New Caney Porter at 7:30 Tuesday night.

The Lufkin Lady Panthers won 5-0 over Dayton girls on Senior Night at Jase Magers Soccer Field in District 16-5A action Friday night. The Lady Panthers (10-6-2, 5-2-1) are off on Tuesday before hosting district-leading Kingwood Park at 6 p.m. Friday.

Lufkin Panthers soccer created several scoring opportunities but fell to Dayton 3-0 in Dayton Friday night. Lufkin (10-5-2, 5-2-1) plays at Kingwood Park Friday night.

The Lady Pack take down Nacogdoches 3-0 to secure 2nd place in District 16-5A. A clean sheet by the defense along with an Isabel Franco goal and 2 goals from Rachel Bonnin propel the Lady Pack to the win.

Lufkin Girls Soccer, your Single Season Goals Record Holder and Career Goals Record Holder, Senior Rachel Bonnin scored her final goal at Jase Magers, her 31st goal on the season bringing her career total to 76.
