Cobb cost us a run by calling Kovar back and hanging up Knight between 2nd and 3rd.  That play was all on him. Terrible call to hold up Kovar.   Just like many other times this year when the Pack had a chance to rally to have a big inning.  It's so frustrating to see a coach be so conservative when your down 5-1 in the fifth.

Lufkin falls 5-1 to Kingwood Park in Lufkin to fall to 8-6 in district with one game to play. The loss drops the Panthers into 3rd place in the playoff seeding. However, a win Friday night in Kingwood would give Lufkin the #2 seed in the playoffs.

Huntsville has been playing great baseball at the end of the season.  They and Lufkin could be tied after Friday if the Pack lose again.

Nacogdoches 3 Porter 2

Huntsville 10 Dayton 3

Lufkin is now 1-6 at home in district play this year.  Can't say that anywhere else but here or I'll get called out for giving the kids a negative vibe. "Your bring'em down MAN!"

I've been criticized on three occasions now in the last 7 or 8 months for not using the assumed socially inappropriate terms for the Pack losing or getting beat in a game.  Some here may not like my old school honesty, that's okay. I've played enough sports for the right to speak it.  Look, I'm always going to deal with facts and truths. I'm never going to be spinning fairy tales and saying your doing fine when your not.  Just saying.

who did they beat here  Dayton? ... 3-11 not a quality win... fact is we don't have quality pitching and hitting as the team from last year...coaching is the same ... look at a Nacogdoches was told last year they would suffer this year and have...

we were blessed with a great season last year... is it coaching or just not enough quality players?

From what People have said here Cobb will not be back as HC next year, or is that just rumor? If so, do you think they promote from within (Gunnar Quick?) or go outside the bubble?

This is the last year for the Thundering13 and Fierce14 or whatever they were called. All great young players and maybe the cream of that group graduated last year. I believe the talent is fine, Lufkin lost a key pitcher before the season to Tommy John Surgery.  That may have made a difference.  I'm not going to pass any blame, the regular season has not been like last year, however they are going to make the playoffs, possibly as a 2nd seed and you never know how the draw will lay out. It's not over till it's over.

I don't know if Gunner is the answer.....  probably qualified as any other LOCAL candidate for the position... I'm sure that his dad being AD plays into the selection,,,  fact is the game is about matchups and limited mistakes ..mistakes we've had plenty of... matchups are the key... the opponents better pitching coupled with our lack of consistent hitting...throw in baserunner errors and fielding errors and coaching errors ... it's a loss!!

I’m pretty sure an outsider is coming but not sure that he will be the answer.  My thoughts are that Quick being the AD would make it harder on GQ becoming the head coach but if as a few years ago  and no one wants the job, he would be a viable alternative.

Lufkin defeats Kingwood Park 8-5 tonight in Kingwood. The win gives Lufkin a 9-6 record in district, a 2nd place finish and a #2 seed in the playoffs.

Looks like Lufkin might play Texas High 15-8 and 8-5 in district, third place finish.

Lufkin Baseball Playoff information…

Lufkin vs Texas High at Hallsville High School.

Thursday 7:00pm
Friday 6:00pm
Saturday 1:00pm

Texarkana , with a district record of 8 and 5, is not your typical 3rd team in district. Top 2 teams in district 15 5 a lost a total of 3 games combined. This will be a tough draw for the pack. And if we move on, Hallsville is getting an opportunity to scout our tendencies at their place.

Lufkin down 1-0 in the top of the 6th. Hillis threw a wild pitch in the bottom of the 5th to allow the run.  For some reason Lufkin is also adverse to hitting to the opposite field. Texas High coming to bat in the bottom of 6th.
