Ok,simple question all the boys to chose from,do we only have one pitcher?

That was a big strength for Lufkin last year, the Panther had 3 top flight pitchers who graduated. That was a question coming into this season. Hillis is going to be a Top pitcher for the Pack. I know Requena and Kovar can both toss the rock too. Someone else in the know, please fill us in on the pitching situation.

I know Carter Jinkins pitches some. I was told a few months ago that the pitching would be our downfall. Gonna be one of those hover around .500 seasons for the pack. The bats aren’t necessarily all that great. They can go ice cold in the snap of a finger. They done that last year too. That’s what got us beat.

Our style. We are not an agressive hitting baseball program under Cobb. We take a lot of pitches, he relies on good pitching, a couple good hitters and defense. Which he had last year. I hate to use this term, we are young, although the team returns about 5 or 6 of the Thundering 13 group. We lost a bunch of experienced talent from last year's team. I had been told the JV and Freshman team's were very good last year, so I really did not expect a drop off.  Remember, it's not how you start, it's how you finish. I have the same opinion about the leadership in the baseball program, as I do about the football program. That's all I will say anymore, my only interest is always how successful our kids can be on the field or court.

Cobb has never been a great coach, just one to get by in a fairly weak district.  I’m told this will be his last year but by his choice.

I'm just guessing here that Gunnar Quick would be next in line to lead the program. What are other thoughts?  Not bad since he was a pretty successful player in college. Injuries probably prevented him from going further.

That was my initial thought too since nepotism is a real thing but I also hear that the front runner is an outsider.

I heard this too.

The situation that Todd Quick most likely will retire in 2 or 3 years might indicate many future changes. ???  Possibly also influences the choice of outsider for baseball coach. The Outlaw influences will eventually cease to be here in Lufkin. Whether that ends up a bad or good thing, only time will tell.  There are other leadership changes on the horizon for the district in the next 2 or 3 years as well. Interesting future for the Lufkin district ahead.

I will try to do my best. Getting a little older now, I feel great though, and hopefully they have killed my prostate cancer from last fall. This new radiation treatment is great, and the way to go for guys who will have this in the future. Tiny little MRI guided laser beams hits all the spots in just a few visits, with little side effects.
