PA,

I read everything just do not respond to much. I gladly appreciate it all you place up. LP schedule is what it is wish they could play a big team in Dallas or Houston at a big stadium win or loose play the SLC, Or Katy or whoever else not excited about Lee or Nac especially NAC that game is almost worse than playing the México team.  District they will make the playoffs. Fans are more eager to see what they do in the playoffs. If they made it 3 or 4 deep every year that would be different but not making it past rnd 1 or 2 with all the talent is craziness.

Go Pack

Well, Lufkin playing  6A Tyler Lee is a pretty good challenge for Lufkin.  Lee will be vastly improved this year.

Magnolia West playing 6A Temple is a big test game to watch because Temple opens the year against Longview @ AT&T.  College Station and Hutto is another good match up.  After Hutto's big year in 2018, they went 9-2 in 2018 and they moved to 6A this season.  Magnolia and Katy Tompkins will be a good one. Not sure what Katy Tompkins has coming back, they were 11-2 last year.

New Caney and Marshall has the making of a competitive game to watch.

You get a scrimmage game, Lufkin scrimmages  Huntsville, a really good football program.  Tyler Lee is a tough road game and you just never know from  2nd year HC Darrin Allman at Nacogdoches.  He has rebuilt programs into winners before, that game might be surprisingly tougher than we think..

PA,

great points. As the cases rises with sport figures And the college level facing cases. I do not see how High School can play football this season without the testing not temperature that is one example no telling who actually has it or the antibodies. I do not think they will finish a season not this year anyways. I Hope so for the kids nothing  like your senior year representing your school and playing at abe.

Some people have COVID, asymptomatic and run NO fever. 😳   How do you check that??, except for everyone in the football program, coaches and players get tested.?  Maybe us fans too?

The best and safe  way is to test the players and coaches  Say Thursday have them in some type of quarantine and get results by Friday’s game  that gives you a better chance not 100% due to false negatives. Have them do school work for Friday while In quarantine. Only  allow the scrimmages and play district Games only no need to risk it by playing those two extra games IMO.

Place all seating at abe 6 feet apart require masks for all except the band while playing maybe even place them further apart if needed.  Limit capacity to 50% or lower. Everyone coming in has a temp check and gets hand sanitizer and mask must be worn unless eating. Do not put out any food product in common areas Have everything given to the individual or even find a way to pre pack everything in a box that limits interaction. Bathrooms place the 6 ft signs on the floor and have some one limiting the occupancy as well. Make the fans sign waivers as well no need for a potential lawsuits you enter at your own risk. Also ask the fans have you been outside the area the past 14 days? Have you been in contact with any covid-19 individuals to your knowledge in the past 14 days and lastly do you have a cough or feel sick.  These things suck and nothing is 100% but you have to try and make it work and be creative.

I also feel that school needs to do reduced hours every Other day for students  or half from 6-12 then 13-1800 just find ways to limit crowd sizes and limit the turnover between class starting.

I think a good mask and using hand sanitizer will do it.

Look, there are so many people we know personally, that have traveled themselves , with their family to Georgia, Destin Fla., Galveston,  Crystal Beach, San Antonio, Corpus Christi or Oklahoma the past week or so.  Some going to the lake to RV with their whole family. Kids, grandparents, uncles, aunts and the dog.  People are doing this stuff, they are not wearing mask among themselves.  Our players don't when they are home or having a big cook out with family or eating at grandma's house.

Hope you see my point here.  All the official stuff being ask of us , is not happening within the family group system.  This is why there are more case here than in other countries. We Americans are rebellious to giving up our freedoms, especially within our families.   My wife and I have been no further than Nacogdoches since March.  Not out of fear, just because so much uncertainty exist, what's open and what's not, hotel limitations and cities having different rules, in places we would like to travel.

There is no good answers because so many people feel differently, understand it differently and we listen to so called experts who are not all in agreement on how the public should proceed.   We are told something different weekly, even daily.  For myself? From day one, I've never been fearful of this virus.  May have mentioned in an earlier post, that I've been through more fearful and traumatic situations than being fearful of a virus.  We'll leave it at that.   I wear a mask only when the requirement is posted on the business property.  Sanitize my hands less today than in March because frankly I've grown tired of constantly doing so.   Still social distance,  out of respect to others.  There are people who still come up to me and shake my hand.  I never refuse, but sanitize afterward, just in case.    Spend a lot of time outdoors, working, exercising or whatever, not much of an indoor person.  In our case, we don't have a bunch of family around us because most don't live close to us.  Our son lives and works in Europe, that;s another story,  because with the restrictions he can't come home if he wanted to right now.

For me, i would not mind going to the stadium, getting my temp checked, wearing a mask and sitting within two feet of someone.

PA,

100% agree tired of all the politics from everyone. Good info on more about the chart. I was telling my wife Texas has over 29 million people. People need to be smart Period like you said above.  Either way I hope to listen to big nasty soon and Panther wins.

PA, I too appreciate your info. I just think I speak for quite a few people when I say I’m just not all that excited about panther football anymore these days. Same old crap each season. We all know how this story ends. I do hope they play the season state wide for the kids’ sake.

Just can’t wait for a 9-1 or 10-0 season to end in the first round 😉

Would love to know from those quite a few  people,  what the solution would actually be to put the program back on the top levels again?  I'm not sure there are any guarantees for better with any major change?, cause I really don't know what that one, or maybe two things would be to help write a different story ending ???😕

Just an FYI to think about before your answer.  The last six years John Outlaw coached in Lufkin he was 53-15 overall, .77% winning percentage.  However,  was 2-6 (.25%) in the playoffs.  Todd Quick is 66-31 in 8 seasons, .68% winning percentage.  He is 6-8 ( .428%)  in the playoffs.  That means Lufkin, since 2006  (14 years) is  119-45 overall and 8-14 in the playoffs.   Made the 2nd round or better in 2006, 2008, 2012, 2017 and 2018.   In other words, as much as we revere Coach Outlaw,  percentage wise, his playoff record in his last 6 years,  was below what Coach Quick has done in his 8 years leading the Lufkin program.  We try to compare the two men so much, just thought I would throw that out there to consider.  Not trying to make anyone lean on way or another, I'm staying out of leaning into anything but supporting and hoping the best for the kids.

  • 3 weeks later...

So far these schedules have remained unchanged from the last revision.  September 7th will start full time football practice for 5A and 6A.  Lufkin will scrimmage Huntsville on 9/18 at Abe Martin, Lufkin. Open the season on 9/25 in Tyler against Tyler Legacy.
