Its good to see that when we play at magnolia now that they wont have to delay the game to fill holes in the field with sand.

John Tyler a possible playoff opponent from 7- 5A has scheduled Euless Trinity, Longview, Cedar Hill and Tyler Lee as their non-district opponents. You can bet Rickland Holmes is willing to go out and get some tough non-district opponents to play.  Now Lufkin, has Longview, Nacogdoches and again the Monterrey Mexico Prep Tech team that will not challenge us to make us better as a team. I am sorry we're playing the Monterey team for the third time in a row, it does us no good at all. Not even going to discuss the Nacogdoches game because it's a traditional game that we will never give up, so it's not really worth talking about.

Longview plays us, Marshall, Ruston La. and John Tyler.

Don’t understand why they would want to play them again. Does absolutely nothing for us. Nac may be better next season and Longview will be a top 6A team next season. Playing them on the road will be good for us. So i can at least understand why we’re playing them. Playing the school from Mexico again makes no sense though, other than i guess for financial reasons and having that home game. However, I’m sure we could’ve found someone better.

I know 6A Texas Football has a 5A forum, but don't notice much use there.

http://texxas5asports.proboards.com/board/11/5a-football

There is a Texas 5A forum. It is not very detailed and not as easy to navgate as the 6A board, but still a different option.

That's the trouble to dropping down to 5A, we're too far south to be part of the Smokey board and we're not 6A so we can be part of the 6A forum and we're too far west to be part of the Southeast Texas Sports Forum. Thus exactly why we ended up in this 8-5A District with  College Station, Tomball and Magnolia, we were the odd man out again. That's okay looking forward to playing all these new faces, it will be good.

One of the problems I have is again, these guys don't ever mention Lufkin. I mean they talk about how great JT,  who was 5-5 last year and missed the playoffs will be so tough in 7-5A and a Div I playoff contender and say nothing about Lufkin who was 11-3 and went 4 rounds last year, with a bunch of staters returning to play in 2018.

The five toughest districts in the new 5A alignment

Watched some video of College Station.  They have a black uniform, solid white uniforms, grey uniforms and solid purple. They also sport purple helmets.  I mean they look sharp.  Figure CS will be our biggest challenge the next couple of years.

As far as I am concerned, a State Champion always gets the preference as the team to beat in a district. So I put College Station as the favorite to win 8-5A next season, here are my picks based on what little reading and checking on who is coming back for each team and guessing.  My personal preference of course is I think Lufkin will win this district and do well in the playoffs.

College Station
Lufkin
Magnolia West
Tomball
Conroe Caney Creek
Magnolia
Willis
Waller

I just read on the 6A forum that the OC from Lake Travis is going to be the new HC at Willis. Hmmm...

Yep, Green will have some competition now. ?  I am surprised it was Willis, they must have laid some big $$$$ out to lure him there. You can bet they will be potent on offense at some point.

Nah i just troll the people whos lives depend on 15 to 21 year olds. Also most of the longview fans on there are pretty unbearable. They could beat God and a team full of angels on the gridiron. Im an outsider on there. Dont really talk highschool much. Primarily on the college threads. Im glad what im doing is working ;)

I was thinking the same thing about the money part. I don’t know much about Willis or the players that will be on the team next season though
